Seawind Cruising Catamarans

Helms Yacht Sales image We delivered our first Seawind 1000 in 1998. Since then we have been amazed by the versatility of this hearty off-shore cruiser. The SW-1000 is fast, nimble, and loves the open water. We have made countless trips up and down the California and Mexican Coast; and we have never been disappointed by the 1000 performance. I have been sailing these waters for 30+ years, and I have never sailed a boat that handled the off-shore conditions better.
One of our customers has been cruising his Seawind since 1999.

Helms Yacht Sales image Joe Siudzinski is a retired engineer, a life-long multihull sailor on San Francisco Bay, and owner of a Seawind 1000 named KatieKat. Joe and his wife, Kathy, documented their cruise from Sydney (Australia) on their website. The cruise so far has covered the entire east coast of Australia (including Tasmania) in 2000-2002, New Caledonia in 2000, the sail to New Zealand. In 2003, a passage to Fiji, New Caledonia, a passage from New Caledonia to Australia in late 2003, and the Australian coastal cruising and inland touristing in 2004. In August 2004, KatieKat was shipped to Vancouver, British Columbia. KatieKat spent 2005 wandering through British Columbia and South East Alaska, including Glacier Bay.

Helms Yacht Sales image In September 2005, Joe and Kathy sailed KatieKat down the northwest US coast home to San Francisco Bay. Joe and Kathy resumed cruising in October 2006 by sailing down the California coast to Baja California. Then they spent the winter sailing down to Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta and then back up, exploring the Sea of Cortez. Joe and Kathy arrived home in San Francisco Bay on September 1st 2007.

Helms Yacht Sales image The spacious open cockpit of the Seawind 1000 has been a real treat with the Seawind owners. The Targa Bar transom seats accommodate a stainless steel propane BBQ. The Targa can be used to hoist a 10’ inflatable dingy. Two 110 watt solar panels on top of the Targa are used to supply the 12 volt electrical system. After sailing a sun cover can be extended to shade the cockpit.

The Seawind 1160 is an evolution of the same basic ideas learned from the Seawind 1000. Full 360 degree visibility makes the vessel safe to operated and a joy to sail. Everyone can see were we're going, and nobody is cut out of the action.

Helms Yacht Sales image Dan and Carol Seifers took delivery of there 1160 November 2007 at the factory in Austrialia. Carol's dream has been to sail the South Pacific. Now in New Zealand, they are sailing North to visit the Tropical Islands. Dan and Carol plan to take their time and slowly sail the Seawind 1160 back home to San Francisco.
