Welcome to Erwin Marine Sales
What started out as a simple hobby over two decades ago has evolved into a thriving and successful business for a Chattanooga native, Kayo Erwin. Kayo's interest in recreational boating began in 1974 with the purchase of his first houseboat docked on the Tennessee River at Chickamauga Marina in 1978. Within four short years Kayo opened his own dealership. Having "boating in his blood and not being able to shake it" he turned it into a full-time business and incorporated it in 1981. By 1992, Erwin Marine Sales acquired Chickamauga Marina - the marina where it all began!Since that time, Erwin Marine Sales has maintained a dominating presence in the boating community - owning and maintaining two Chattanooga area marinas, Chickamauga Marina and Gold Point Marina, with a capability of docking 660 privately owned boats. In 1997, Kayo's vision of a sales showroom and corporate office facility had been realized on the Chickamauga Marina property. The boat lines represented by Erwin Marine Sales are Sea Ray, Baja Performance Boats, Carver Yachts, and Harbor Master House Boats. Erwin Marine Sales, at Chickamauga Marina, was now the area's premiere facility for boat sales, service, and storage. This was surely a realization of a grand vision. In September of 1997, Kayo was given the opportunity to acquire the boat manufacturing company that produced Harbor Master House Boats. The very boat that had given Erwin Marine Sales its hold on the houseboat market since 1981. EMG, Incorporated was formed. Entering into the manufacturing end of boating was a new and exciting venture indeed. 2008 holds exciting opportunities for Erwin Marine Sales, as they are now moving the Huntsville Store to the water with a roadside store on U.S. Hwy 431 in Grant, Alabama. The new location will feature a Sales showroom, wet slips and dry storage, and parts & service.
