28' Northern Bay Downeast Bass Boat
(Owner will consider a trade on a high-quality, late model, center console between 25 and 32 feet.)
"Lionheart" is an extremely nice example of a Calvin Beal, Jr. design. This downeast bass boat cruiser was built by Stephen E. Newman & Son Boat Works on Campobello Island in New Brunswick, Canada.
The Yanmar diesel engine installed below the bridge deck (no raised engine box which makes the cockpit very large) is very fuel-efficient and quiet. All systems on the boat are uncomplicated and easy to maintain.
A list of upgrades includes a complete Awlgrip refinishing of the hull, deck and non-skid as well as the cockpit, cabin and house superstructure. All refitting was performed between 2009 - 2013. Additionally, a restorative stripping and refinishing of all exterior brightwork with multiple coats of sealer and new varnish.
NEW equipment added includes a bowthruster, 120 volt shorepower system including GFI receptacles, a Newmar 25 amp marine battery charger, cabin and cockpit lighting fixtures, signal horn, teak & holly sole, sink faucets, laminate counter tops, teak joinery throughout the cabin interior, and beautiful hand-crafted custom varnished teak cockpit bench that matches the helm and companion seating. Also, recently added Sunbrella fabric covered seat cushions for all cockpit seats plus v-berth as well as quality stereo speakers inside the cockpit.
"Lionheart" is a boat collector's dream come true. Even at 11 years young, she has been sheltered and stored in-water/under roof during the boating season, significantly pampered, kept up-to-date and preserved for everyone to admire.
Note: All of the work on the vessel was completed by Mathews Brothers in Denton, MD.
