Hull # 51...
Pacifica sportfishers have been chasing gamefish off both coasts for nearly three decades now, earning a devoted following among serious anglers and the reputation of being some of the most respected sportfishing boats around.
Viewing the big, white, modified deep-V hull, two reasons for the Pacifica 44’s attributes become obvious. The boat will have a dry ride, as the well-flared bow should easily shrug off the waves. And it will be a very stable fishing (11 degree) rear bottom and quite pronounced reverse chines that run way up close to the bow.
It’s also obvious that Pacifica built boats with painstaking care. The hull layup is done entirely by hand, and it’s done slowly with squeegees, not quickly with rollers, which eliminates any bubbles in the resin, No rough edges could be found, not even in the engine compartment.
Each Pacifica hull also was left to cure in the mold for at least six weeks. No company but a small, semi-custom builder like Pacifica could afford to do that. But the long-cure period is the most likely explanation for Pacifica’s extraordinary record of avoiding the dreaded gelcoat blisters.
