David Etnier Boat Brokerage image

We are always looking for quality fishing boats to add to our listings. David has years of experience in the industry as crew on lobstering vessels and swordfish boats. Experience he used to obtain his first 50 ton USCG Masters License back in 1992. More recently he served for 6 years in the Maine State Legislature as House Chair of the Marine Resources Committee and then went on to become Deputy Commissioner at Maine's Department of Marine Resources - where he served for 8 years until January 2011. Growing up in a fishing village in Maine - Harpswell - he has a lifetime of direct involvement with fisheries and fishermen. His knowledge of the industry coupled with his knowledge of boats make him an ideal sellers broker for a fisherman with a boat they wish to sell or as a buyers broker for one who is looking to get a new vessel. A competitive commission is available for commercial vessel customers. Please feel free to call or email him directly anytime to discuss further. Thank you.

David Etnier Boat Brokerage image 2003 NORTHERN BAY 25 The seller is ready to move onto another boat and would like to let this one go. Reasonable offers will certainly be considered.

A one-owner boat that is presently fishing and is ready to go hauling this summer. The Northern Bay 25 is a Calvin Beal design that feels like a much larger boat but yet is very maneuverable (turns on less than her length!). She was built out by John Hutchins at Downeast Boats and Composites.

Recently repowered with a 2010 Honda 150 HP outboard with 1500 hours. An 8D battery provides her starting power. Her hauling engine is only a couple years old as well - an 11 HP electric-start Honda (model GX 340) with its own battery and muffled exhaust out the port cabin side.

For electronics there is a Furuno GPS/WAAS GP-32 Navigator (fairly new), a Sitex plotter model NAV-ADD 6000 NT (older unit that works fine) and a Furuno FCV-667 color sounder.

She has a HydroSlave hauler with 12" discs and a 24 gallon hydraulic tank. Her steering is a commercial grade SeaStar unit.

She also comes complete with the galvanized Venture two-axle trailer (with brakes) that she had when new. The trailer has been rarely used - as the boat fishes year-round for lobster and shrimp - and shows little age or rust.

There is tons of head room in the wheel house and great visibility in all directions. For a small, economical to run boat there is lots of room on deck and below as she carries her nearly 9 foot beam almost her full length.

This is a presently fishing boat that shows the standard wear. But one that has proven herself overtime by fishing year round in all conditions. She could use a bottom cleaning and some bottom paint but appears otherwise ready to go for this season. Please visit our "ALL VESSELS FOR SALE" link for full details.

David Etnier Boat Brokerage image SOLD - 2004 HOLLAND 38 - SOLD

Everything about the JULIA G is of the finest quality. From the proven design and construction of Glenn Holland's hull, to the fine workmanship and attention to detail of the gentleman who built her out and has impeccably maintained her throughout her single-owner life. We do not believe you will find a better boat of this type. If you got lucky you might fine one as good - but we sincerely doubt you will find better.

She is constructed of the finest materials and any thorough examination will show the level of care in her original construction as well as the devotion to her proper maintenance. She has seen light use since she was built and has approximatedly 1400 hours on her main engine (CAT 3196E - 660HP).

This is a serious vessel for one who wants the best. Her potential uses are many. Certainly she is made to fish and fish hard - if that is what you are looking for this is your boat. Beyond that she could easily work in the lobster fishery or be an efficient sport fishing machine. We suspect that conversion to an inspected, passenger-carrying vessel would not be a tall order - opening up many money-making opportunities in the charter boat trade, etc... She has everything you need down below for recreational cruising as well. Full head with seperate shower. Fully equipped galley. Heaters below and in the large wheelhouse. Lots of storage. Her trim is simple - in the interests of ease of maintenance - but could always be made more elaborate if that was your desire.

JULIA G will be in the water again in early summer (2013) and is available for your viewing, in or out of the water.

David Etnier Boat Brokerage image SOLD - 1978 JC 31 and 800 trap gang of gear - SOLD

After 45 years in the business this Harpswell Maine fisherman is retiring from lobstering. NUMBER 7 represents a great opportunity for an individual who wishes to fish a quality boat with full compliment of 800 traps and all related gear and equipment.

The JC 31 is a well-regarded hull design that moves through water easily. Hard-chine, effective flair to the bow and a semi-displacement hull all combine for a stable working platform that is quite seaworthy. She carries her width aft for a large deck area. There is a inspection/clean-out hatch and well directly over the wheel for those days when rope finds its way around your prop. Plywood deck glassed over above and underneath. Glassed over plywood longitudinals and deck framing. Solid glass hull from the waterline down. Good quality windows all around. 76" headroom in the wheelhouse and a 25.5" high washrail at the hauling station.

Only on her second owner - and very well maintained by both - she had her bottom soda-blasted in 2009. She was properly barrier-coated and is now painted out with Interlux Fiberglass Bottom-Kote. There is very little paint build-up and the bottom is quite smooth. The hull is painted out in Epifanes white.

NUMBER 7 was recently (2011) repowered with a Cummins 210 BT turbo diesel. Presently she has only 1500 hours on her. The gear is a Twin Disc with a 2:1 ratio swinging a four blade bronze wheel (20 x 23) with an 1 1/2" stainless shaft using an Evolution Drive coupling. The wheel, stuffing box and bearings were also new in 2011. Her top speed is 18 knots @2650 RPM and she'll do approximately 12 knots @2000 RPM and 10 knots @ 1750 RPM.

The present owner hauls four hundred traps per day (approximately 8 hours) and uses 8.3 gallons per day. Fueling his 30 gallon stainless fuel tank no more than every 3 days. With the price of lobsters being what it's been of late this is a pretty reasonable way to go if you are seeking to get ahead rather than just break even every day...

At present this boat the owner would much prefer to sell the boat and gang of gear together as a package for the listed price. There are 800 3' yellow big box traps. Primarily Pono built. None are older than 10 years and most are much newer. All are well maintained. They have been fished in one hundred 8 trap trawls and have all the rope and buoys (230 7x 14 with PVC spindles) to go with them. Also included is a fiberglass lobster tank with 650 lb. capacity, bait box, trap dip tank, separate buoy dip tank, full wire trap repair set-up and patching materials. Essentially every single thing one needs to go fishing except the bait.

The fisherman who has owned this boat and gear is highly regarded in Casco Bay and is known as an individual who takes excellent care of his gear and boat. This broker has know him for his entire life and used to serve as his sternman many moons ago. If you want a vessel and a gang of gear that has not been abused but instead has been well-maintained you have come to the right place. NUMBER 7 needs only a coat of bottom paint to be ready to go fishing. She is presently hauled and both the boat and all accompanying gear are easily seen. We welcome your close inspection.

David Etnier Boat Brokerage image SOLD- 2002 Lash Brothers(Friendship, Maine)44' - SOLD -
GRACE EGRETTA is an excellent example of a quality Lash Brothers Maine-built fishing vessel. She is of recent construction and has been gone through over the past couple years to her present fine condition. Stainless fastened. 15 gross tons. She has a split wheelhouse, 14" hauler with a 2 1/2" stainless davit, 580HP CAT 3406 (8300 hours) with a 2.5:1 gear, a 3" shaft swinging a 36" square wheel. Her fuel capacity is 650 gallons in two tanks and she carries 90 gallons of freshwater. Beneath her decks are two fish holds with a total of 9000 lbs capacity. There is a 6" aluminum mast and a 4" boom. Foward she has accommodations for four and an additional berth in the wheelhouse. There is a Reflex oil fired stove, a small refrigerator, sink, inverter, microwave and dinette table.

For electronics she has a JRC radar (JMA 2254), Hondex color bottom machine (HE 745), Hondex plotter, Icom VHF and ComNav autopilot.

With her lobster tank off she'll carry 140 4' traps - 120 with the tank aboard.

This is one heavily constructed and massive working platform. Easily capable or a variety of commercial applications. Lobstering, dragging, seining, etc... She will steam at 14 knots @1600 RPM, 10.5 knots @1450 RPM and turns up to 2300 RPM.
