Location
Cypress Cove Marina is located on the fresh water Scuppernong River only 15 miles west of the Intracoastal Waterway, allowing for convenient boating access to the Albemarle Sound and the Atlantic Ocean.
Situated in Tyrrell County, we are connected to the historic town of Columbia and are very accessible by land or sea.
The Albemarle Sound ranks as one of North Carolina's East Coast boating hot spots and has received rave reviews in a number of boating magazines.
Our marina's location, on the Scuppernong River, protects boaters from adverse weather, yet provides easy access to NC sounds and ICW. In fact, the marina is very well protected from hurricanes. All channels are welllmarked and the waters are clean and barnacle free.
Approaching from the Sea
The Scuppernong River maintains consistent 8+ foot depths in the wide, stable channel across its entrance shoal. The well marked river entrance is navigable day or night and is identified by the flashing-green (4s) marker "1SR".
The entrance channel is deepest close to its western side, which is delineated by two red markers. From the entrance mark, proceed towards the closest unlit red marker "2". Keep it close to starboard, while adjusting course to port, towards the unlit red marker "2A". Pass the second red marker close to starboard and complete your gradual turn towards the flashing-green (4s) marker "3" to exit the channel.
Cypress Cove Marina is located due south of the green (4s) marker "7". The marina channel is well marked, and offers an approach depth of 6 feet at normal water.
The Scuppernong river carries a comfortable 10 - 12 feet of water, beckoning exploration far beyond the sleepy town of Columbia.
Driving by Land
