Hunt Yachts Inc. is the new boat sales, brokerage and production division of the New Bedford based design firm of C. Raymond Hunt Associates, Inc. Founded in 1966 by C. Raymond Hunt and John Deknatel. C.Raymond Hunt is among the world's foremost firms in the field of hull design for powerboat commercial and recreational use. Several large manufacturers build or have built Hunt designs, including Alden, Baltic Yachts, Bertram, Boston Whaler, Chris Craft, Eastbay,Four Winns, Grady White,Gladding Hearn and Hinkley. Custom builders such as Palmer Johnson, Huisman and Lyman Morse, to name but a few, have worked in collaboration with the experienced team of Naval architects to produce world class motor yachts.
Hunt Yachts Inc. was formed in 1998 to broaden the base from custom designing to include production, brokerage and new boat sales.For eight years the boatbuilding took place in Dartmouth, MA at the Concordia Company which was founded by Ray Hunt and Waldo Howland in 1937 and was the home of the world famous Concordia yawl. With the popularity of the Surfhunter 25 and 29 the need for larger space saw the factory move to Portsmouth RI in the summer of 2006. This larger facility enabled the company to not only expand its product line but also to offer a full service and storage capability to its owners.
