Welcome to Cannell, Payne & Page Yacht Brokers

Cannell, Payne & Page Yacht Brokers image Cannell, Payne & Page is located in the historic American Boathouse at the head of the harbor in Camden, Maine. We are best known for arranging the sale of classic and wooden boats, although we are experienced with all yachts of quality, of all materials. We have successfully sold boats ranging in size from small day sailers up to the largest and most technologically advanced Feadships. Our real specialty is quality.

Our brokers are boat people first and brokers second. Before becoming brokers, all of us were extensively involved not just in sailing wooden boats, but also with the construction and maintenance of classic boats. At Cannell, Payne & Page one finds much more than which boats are available for sale; we endeavor to help our clients with advice and knowledge garnered from years of experience and our extensive contacts in the boating world. Please have a look at our boats for sale, then give us a call for more information. For complete lists of all our available boats, visit:

Note re: year boat was built:
VIOLET was originally built in 1911, but her 1991 restoration was so extensive that the U.S. Coast Guard has documented her as built in 1991.

VIOLET

VIOLET is an extraordinary vessel which was extensively rebuilt by her owners. Originally a "Scots Zulu," a design which evolved in the late 1880s in the Scottish fishing fleet, VIOLET was given an upgraded rig by her owners, as they intended to do extensive cruising. The rig--as well as the rest of the rebuild--was very much in keeping with the rest of the vessel, and VIOLET is truly exceptional.

An extensive article about her rebuild appeared in WoodenBoat magazine no. 113 (July-August 1993), and we shall be pleased to provide a copy upon request. Since the rebuild, VIOLET has cruised to the Caribbean and Pacific, with one notable passage from the Galapagos to the Marquesas in 21 days, a passage of some 3,500 miles, and another of 2,100 miles, from the Marquesas to Hawaii, in 14 days. She has been continuously upgraded since her rebuild and passages to include gear and standing and running rigging, sails, main mast 2 years ago, rewiring, new fuel system and tanks, etc. The owner reports that VIOLET "does not leak at all" and that "she is stout, able, and ready for sea."

It is worth noting that the rebuild was extensive enough that VIOLET received U.S. Coast Guard documentation as a new U.S.-built vessel, and as such, she can be used for charter in U.S. waters. We feel that VIOLET can be highly recommended and will be pleased to provide additional information and to arrange inspections.
