COMPLETE LAYOUT
GENERAL:  1981 Tartan 33 (Not to be confused with a Tartan 10) was damaged by hurricane in 2005, driven ashore and holed below the waterline with damage on the starboard bow at the deck joint. The only water intrusion into the boat was in the bilge. Cabin floor and engine were not affected.  Damage to both places has been completely repaired using alternate layers of heavyweight glass cloth and woven roving reinforced with Kevlar and high quality polyester resin.

The boat has been re-rigged as a cruising Cutter for the Gulf and southern Florida.  The mast has been shortened and deck stepped on a compression post.  The height above the waterline is now 46 ft which allows the boat to pass below all Florida’s fixed 50 ft bridges.  Keel bolts are stainless steel, in great shape with no sign of corrosion or leakage; it’s a SCHEEL keel which provides excellent windward performance with the advantage of shoal draft 4 ft 3 in.  The standing rig is all 9/32 in. stranded stainless steel, has been inspected with all fittings and is in excellent condition, all running rigging is new.

The mainsail is in good condition and will provide several years of cruising use.

There are 4 headsails all in good condition, one 150% Genoa, one 110% Genoa, one inner staysail, one lightweight tall boy which is great for light wind conditions. All sails are hank on, roller furling for the headsail is included with the boat.  The traveler has been relocated from the cockpit to the cabin top for cruising comfort. Directly forward of the traveler is the boom vang. There are 5 sheet winches, 2 of which are #2 Lewmar 2 speed, all over-hauled, lubricated and in perfect working condition.  The bow pulpit, stern rail, stanchions, lifelines have been replaced or repaired, in good condition and have all been re-bedded as required.

The boat has wheel steering and a cockpit table.  Engine controls and compass are on the pedestal.  Wheel and pedestal were removed and inspected, control cables have all been replaced and all controls lubricated.  Cockpit is completely covered by a sun awning.  A propane barbeque grill is mounted on the stern rail.  The stern rail has a hinged center section with a hinged, stern mounted boarding ladder.  The bow pulpit houses the main anchor which has 200 ft of 3/4" rode and 30 ft of 5/16” chain.

All navigational lights and wiring have been reworked or replaced as needed and are working correctly, the VHF antenna is mounted on top of the mast and the co- axial cable between the antenna and radio is all new. The depth indicator works but is not very clear, there is a speed indicator, apparent wind direction, and wind speed indicator, all three are not working since the hull and masthead sending units are missing.

ACCOMMODATIONS AND LAYOUT:

This well maintained Tartan 33 sleeps 5, 2 forward, 2 on dinette and 1 on port aft quarter berth. The head has stainless steel sink w/vanity, storage underneath and shower.

GALLEY/LAUNDRY:
BELOW DECKS:  Boat has been reworked stem to stern and now in “Bristol” condition.  FORWARD cabin sleeps two full size adults.  All berth cushions have been re-covered, bow water tank removed, cleaned and reinstalled with all new pipes and fitting.  Woodwork has been refinished and in new condition. Head holding tank was removed, cleaned out, checked, and reinstalled with all new piping and fittings. There is one deck hatch for ventilation; the hatch is in good condition.

The bathroom/head compartment is like new, all piping has been replaced, thru hulls checked and re-bedded as required, the head has all new components, a “Y’ valve and works perfectly, there is pressure water and a shower.  There are 2 hanging lockers and several drawers, and 2 opening ports.

MAIN CABIN: all woodwork has been refinished, the cabin sole replaced and varnished, all bulkheads checked and any defective wood replaced.  Upper pilot berth on port side has been eliminated so a small refrigerator and additional storage could be installed.  All cabin settees which convert to berths have been re-covered, cabin ceiling has been replaced.  There is a pressure alcohol stove/oven (three top burners) which has been overhauled and tested, has all new piping, new pressure tank.  There is one overhead hatch and eight opening cabin ports all in good condition.  A removable section in the floor provides access to bilge and 2 pumps, one for shower sump and one for the bilge.

A Cruiseair 10,000 btu air conditioning system is installed and comfortably cools inside cabins when in dock on the hottest days.

Cabin port side has Nav station with VHF radio, AM/FM/CD radio with 4 speakers, two in main cabin, two in cockpit, and power panel for shore and battery power.  Also on port side aft is a berth for 2 adults, below berth is diesel fuel tank and storage lockers.

Galley has alcohol stove w/three burners, oven, ice box and stainless steel sink.

The driveshaft has been checked for straightness and is perfect, a new strut and a new fixed prop have been installed.  The original feathering prop, which is in good condition, is included with the boat.

The boat was hauled in May, 2009, pressure cleaned and bottom sanded as needed, only 2 small blisters were found and repaired.  A coat of primer and 2 coats of multi-season antifouling bottom paint were applied.
