Remarks
In June of 2009 the owner had $16,000 worth of work done to the bottom of this boat. The keel area under the grid was exposed, the balsa core was removed, and solid laminant was laid up from the keel sump out 14” on either side, and fore and aft, creating a very stiff keel section. All of the area was faired smooth retaining its race bottom profile.
The Olson 40 is a light weight vessel that has been meticulously engineered and constructed to blend integrity with her light scantlings. Race J/120s boat for boat. Very competitive race boat and comfortable cruiser. Great performance at all points of sail. Very tame at planing speeds.
