Model History
Mainship began building trawlers in 1979 with the introduction of the Mainship 34 trawler. After the tremendous success of the 350/390 Trawler in the 1990s, Mainship introduced the 430 Performance Trawler in 1999. This boat was designed for cruisers looking for more speed, comfort, and greater cruising range.
She is built on a modified V hull with 12 degrees of deadrise. Originally powered with 300 hp diesels, owner's were soon asking for more speed and Maiship reponded by offering the twin 370 Yamnars as an option. This proved to be a great fit for the boat. This package gave owner's the best of both worlds and allowed for displacement operation for efficiency and allowed for advancing the throttles and giving planing speed when desired.
Vessel Walk Thru
Boarding on the large swim platform aft, the vessel is accessed through a transom door leading to a cockpit area convenient for line handling. A private companionway leads to the aft owner's stateroom. Two steps up, port or starboard, lead to the wide side decks that make going fore and aft a breeze. The aft deck house provides for a great deck area for this vessels propane grill and folding bike storage. Up a few step and you are on a tremendously spacious flybridge. There is large L shaped lounge to port with fixed table, and companion seat forward. Starboard side has a long settee and 2nd compainion seat forward with chart table. Centerline has the swivling captain's helm seat with fantastic 360 degree visability and convenient access to engine controls, instrumentation and electronics. The bridge is fully protected from the elements by a 4 sided Eisenglass enclosure with convenient U zip openings to provide ventilation.
Entering the salon through the large companionway on the aft deck house, one immediately notices how bright and airy the salon is. Large opening windows, port, starboard and forward, wash the salon with natural light and give a feeling of being outside on deck! Sliding side doors P&S also add to the open feeling in the salon. Beautiful Ultraleather sofa, dining chairs, bar stools and lower helm seat can accomodate 8-10 guests in total comfort.
Forward in the salon there is the lower helm to starboard and a great breakfast bar to port with the galley is just forward. The forward house windows fill the galley area with natural light.
The guest stateroom is forward with a queen island berth, jump seats P&S, and twin hanging lockers. The guest head is one of the largest in this style of boat, complete with electric head, stall shower, and a long corian counter top.
The owner's stateroom aft of the salon has another queen island berth with tons of storage and private in-suite head.
The engine room is conveniently located under the salon and has large removable hatches. There is also access to the engine room from the galley steps that lift, to reveal an auxilary machinery space, with washer/dryer combo unit to starboard, and generator in a built-in sound shield to port.
