Model History
Monterey introduced the 302 Cruiser in 2000 as a replacement for the 296 Cruiser. The 302 offered a new roomier interior with a truly private aft stateroom along with a all new deck layout. The boat remained in production till 2006, when after 6 years, she was replaced by the new 322 CR.
Construction
Monterey boats are of conventional construction built with polyester resin and E-glass fiberglass cloth and mat. The hull is a solid fiberglass laminate layup below the waterline with cored hull sides above the waterline. The hull is reinforced with a marine plywood stringer system encapsulated in fiberglass with foam insulation for sound deadening. The deck is also a fiberglass laminate with coring used to stiffen the fore deck and cockpit sole. The hull to deck joint is a "shoe box" style that is chemically and mechanically fastened together. The exterior finish is in a premium grade gel coat.
