MANUREVA II has now returned to the islands and is currently in BVI. The owner has recently made substantial upgrades to the vessel and a list is available upon request.
MANUREVA II arrived into the Newport Rhode Island area May 23rd. I sailed with the owner on this offshore 1500 NM passage in comfort, safety and speed as we averaged approximately 200 NM per day. We departed the Virgin Islands with the Salty Dog Rally and arrived days ahead of all other vessels in the fleet. Truly a comfortable ride we often saw 9 knots of boat speed in 15 knots of apparent wind on the beam. We were loaded down with full water capacity of 210 gallons and almost 500 gallon of fuel (some in gerry cans) along with 5 heafty crew members and ample provisions.
Now asking $789,500. This is truly an exceptional value and the owner is very motivated to sell, so come forward with all reasonable offers.
IN MAY 2012, THE OWNER AND I SAILED THE BOAT FROM TORTOLA TO THE CHESAPEAKE BAY EXPERIENCING A WIDE RANGE OF WEATHER. WE DEPARTED BVI ON A BEAM REACH WITH WINDS OF 12-13 KTS APPARANT AND BOAT SPEED OF 9-10 KTS. AS THE WINDS DECREASED TO 8-10 KTS BOAT SPEED WAS AN AMAZING 7-7.5 KTS. IT'S TRULY EXCEPTIONAL FOR A CATAMARAN OF THIS SIZE TO SAIL SO WELL IN LIGHT AIR.
AFTER A FEW DAYS OUT AVERAGING 200NM PER DAY, WE BEGAN TO EXPERIENCE SQUALLS ASSOCIATED WITH TROPICAL DEPRESSION ALBERTO, THE FIRST NAMED STORM OF THE SEASON. AS WINDS INCREASED TO 40-50 KTS WE REEFED THE MAIN AND GENOA AND CONTINUED TO SAIL IN RELATIVE COMFORT GIVEN THE SEA STATE. TOP BOAT SPEED THIS TRIP WAS 14 KTS. IT'S ALWAYS EXCITING TO BE ONBOARD SUCH A SEAWORTHY VESSEL AND SEE HOW SHE PLOWS THRU SOME VERY ROUGH CONDITIONS.
FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING MANUREVA II, I AM PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE THE OWNER IS SO CONFIDENT THE BOAT WILL SURVEY WELL THAT HE WILL GUARANTEE THE SURVEY MAKING GOOD ON ANY DIFFICIENCIES THAT MIGHT UNEXPECTEDLY ARISE.
IN ADDITION, THIS KNOWLEDGEABLE SAILOR HAS GENEROUSLY AGREED TO DONATE AMPLY TIME TO BE WITH THE NEW OWNER TO BECOME FAMILAR WITH HANDELING THE BOAT AND LEARN THE VESSEL's SYSTEMS.
Please note the followinng recent improvements: Fresh bottom paint, wax and buff, service sail drives, oil and filter change for both main engines and gen sets, all lockers emptied and cleaned, bilges cleaned and fresh.
Family/charter layout with 5 staterooms plus crew quarters. Each stateroom has an en-suite head compartment and there is a day head in the port hull. Amidships down to port is a navigation center with desk, SSB, Sat phone, VHF, GPS chart plotter, washer/dryer, and ample storage.
The knowledgeable owner of this vessel took delivery in Cape Town, SA and sailed her north to the BVI and the USA. He has equipped her for world cruising, diving, and gourmet meal preparation with all the best professional kitchen equipment available on the market. The electronics inventory is extensive and includes a SSB, radar overlay chart plotter, a differential GPS for the greatest accuracy available, autopilot with remote control and remote VHF mike at helm. A dive compressor can easily fill all 10 scuba tanks for daily dives, and the galley has been outfitted with a complete complement of high end appliances and utensils. Two generators and a high output water maker provide for all the fresh water needed for comfortable cruising. Deck equipment has been fitted for passage making including a gennaker and spinnaker, a 15' center console tender with 60 hp 4 stroke yamaha that you could ski behind, solar panels, proper ground tackle with oversized chain, 4 electric winches, dedicated dinghy halyard, and a para-tech sea anchor.
This vessel is well equipped and outfitted for a circumnavigation, dive operation, charter business, or personal cruising for a large family in a very comfortable and safe environment. The asking price is well below market value and the replacement cost is over $1.5 M. The condition of this catamaran is excellent, engine hours are minimal and she is ready for her next adventure.
