"Jan Van Gent" is a Bristol Yacht in every sense of the word....a beautifully finished 62' traditional gaff-rigged schooner built by Societe Construction Mechaniques, Cherborg, France, from a Daniel Z. Bombigher design. Her robust, heavy displacement hull is constructed from cold molded double-diagonal layers of 1/4" mahogany over a core of edge-glued 1"x1" Oregon white pine on laminated oak frames,covered by a longitudinal layer of 3/8" Iroko w/ SS fastenings throughout. (The designation "44-40" refers not to waterline or LOA dimensions, but to the designer's favorite Winchester revolver.) Featuring accomodations for 9, this blue water yacht offers a bright and spacious interior of immaculate white enameled wood cabinetry, accented by gleaming varnished teak,and polished brass fixtures. "Jan Van Gent" is a marvelous combination of old-world craftsmanship and contemporary engineering complete with 120/240 V AC and 12/24V DV capability, watermaker, genset,ample navgear, and diesel power.
