This 35’ Wauquiz Pretorian sloop is handsome, fast and most importantly, very well built. CELTIC KNOT is hull number 159, custom built by Henri Wauquiez in l984. Her condition and quality far exceeds most 35' yachts on the market today.
Her only two owners have maintained her with an impeccable standard of care and scheduled maintenance. Her original gel coat still shines: she is equipped with the preferred fiberglass decks, and has had numerous recent upgrades. These include a 2009 rebuilt Volvo diesel model 2003T, 25 hp diesel with saildrive; LazyJack system, recent interior salon cushions of yellow Sunbrella, new AGM batteries, new 2009 Garmin 478 Chartplotter-GPS, and Lewmar 44 S.T. winches. Her deck includes Stainless Steel oversized ocean rigging. Her sail inventory includes 6 sails which includes a 1998 dacron Main, a 1996 139% Genoa, recently serviced, a 1998 103% Genoa, a like-new tri radial spinnaker, and a working jib, never used. Additionally there’s a white sail cover, dodger, bimini and custom Fairclough winter cover and frame.
Her interior accommodations include a well-arranged design, and a highly gloss varnished teak and holly sole, which looks new. There are large vee berths forward with a private entrance to the head. The enclosed head, aft to starboard, has a W.C., sink, two entrances, and a circular shower curtain. All storage compartments have been designed to ensure safe storage underway. There are teak shelves over and under all bunks, as well as ample storage lockers and hanging lockers. The main salon is light and airy, and very comfortable for a 35 foot yacht. Across from the dinette is color TV/DVD and special liquor and glass locker. The U-shaped galley is located at the base of the companionway with large counter space and a double sinks. There is a “wet” hanging locker with clothes dryer/heater aft. Across from the galley is the sit down Nav station and teak table, and further aft, is the second enclosed stateroom on the port side. Thus, accommodations are very comfortable for a family, or two couples, in two separate cabins, one large head, a spacious U-shaped dinette and superb galley.
These vessels are well-known as ideal "offshore", go-anywhere cruising vessels. Renowned sailors, Hal and Margaret Roth owned a Pretorien 35, WHISPER, which they sailed successfully to the Arctic and across the Atlantic. They listed the Pretorien as their boat of preference in “How to Sail Around the World” 2004, McGraw-Hill Publisher.
