This special edition of the Swan 47 was commissioned by the New York Yacht Club to meet its own specifications for an elegant yet high performance one-class racer/cruiser. Also known as the NYYC 48, the boat features modifications such as more sail and tankage than the standard Swan 47 Mark II. Quintet has been outfitted for blue water cruising and presents a wonderful opportunity to own an exciting offshore passagemaker.
Quintet has just completed a two year refit project, as current owners were planning their second South Sea excursion in 15 years of ownership. A change in plans now makes Quintet ready for new owners and new adventures.
2007/2008 upgrades include a new Yanmar engine, new centerboard bearing and hardware, new rod rigging, new VacuFlush head, new arimid running rigging, and new instruments.
The boat features a retractable monel centerboard allowing the boat to be cruised and raced practically anywhere. Current owners sail with the centerboard up as the boat has excellent sailing characteristics with her 6 foot fin keel in this position. With the centerboard down, Quintet is spectacular; able to point high to weather because of her 8 foot draft foil.
Quintet has benefitted from gentle Northwest conditions over the years, her teak decks in surprisingly excellent condition, as well as her gelcoat. Current owners have had the boat professionally maintained and stored on the hard (uncommon in the Northwest) during the winters.
