The Cal 31 is a classic Bill Lapworth design. The hull is solid hand lay-up, sandwich-constructed deck of Klegecel foam w/plywood inserts near the partners w/solid fiberglass beneath the deck-stepped mast, which is also supported by the teak-faced main bulkhead below. A sea hood waterproofs the sliding companionway. Chain plates are heavy s/s & properly bolted to bulkheads. The rig is a masthead sloop and provides performance consistency with Cal's image and is also comfortable to cruise. The main cabin is huge, with good storage and a fold-down table. Cooks will appreciate the galley. She sleeps 5 in 6'6" long berths and has a private enclosed head. Yard maintained since purchased by current owner in 1999.
