SIRIUS STAR was built by Elkins of Christchurch of pitch pine on 1 ¼in x 7/8in oak frames at about 8in centres with mahogany planking above the sheer line. Her lines are typical of the estuarial or inland motor yachts capable of coastal passages.
She has been restored using original traditional materials and skills, with all work being overseen by Surveyor and Shipwright. Her present owner has carried out extensive improvements to the boat including the replacement of the foredeck which cost in the region of £10,000.
Work included: the complete bare wood restoration from the keel up/ hull re-caulked/ keel bolts replaced/ rudder stock and prop shaft replaced in stainless steel/ re-engined with Perkins 50hp diesel/ rewired/ new instruments.
