CONSTRUCTION                             Built in 1978.  GRP construction with fin keel, self draining aft cockpit with tiller steering, Bermudan sloop rig, white topsides and superstructure and 4 berth internal layout in 2 cabins with around 5’6”  headroom.

SAILS  & RIG:                           Slab reefing mainsail with mainsail cover.  Plastimo 609S Genoa roller reefing system with furling no 1 Genoa.  Alloy mast and boom and stainless steel standing rigging.  Standing rigging was replaced in 2002. 

ENGINE:                                            Beta 13.5 twin cylinder inboard diesel engine installed new in 2003.  Raw water cooling.  Alternator charging to 2 x 12 volt batteries (110 amp/hr and 80 amp/hr), shaft drive to 3 blade fixed propeller.  Cruising speed under engine is around 5 knots and current engine hours are around 500.  

DECK GEAR:                              Stainless steel pushpit, pulpit and guardwires, boarding ladder, tiller, 2 sheet winches, halyard winch, CQR main anchor with 20m chain, 4 mooring warps and 4 fenders. 

SAFETY GEAR:                           Jackstay lifelines on side decks, 2 horseshoe lifebuoys (one with name), 2 manual fire extinguishers,  one auto fire extinguisher, one manual bilge pump.

NAVIGATION EQUIPMENT:        Bulkhead compass, NASA Clipper echo sounder and log, ICOM M411 DSC VHF radio, Garmin GPS 400 chart plotter, Plastimo radar reflector, clock and barometer, NASA GPS repeater in cockpit, navigation light and anchor light.

DOMESTIC EQUIPMENT:            Her galley has a gas cooker with 2 burners and grill, various pots and pans, water supply to the sink.  Separate heads compartment with marine toilet and washbasin/wet locker opposite.  Green vinyl upholstery replaced in 2011.

ACCOMMODATION:                   She has 4 berths including 2 “V” berths in the forepeak and 2 single settee berths in the saloon.

REMARKS:                                Poacher a 1975 example of a Trapper T28 yacht. The current owners have carried out an extensive program of modifications which include the rewiring of the navigation lighting, installation of a Garmin 451 Chart plotter, upgrading from a standard VHF radio to Icom 411 DSC, new spray hood, Refurbished internal cushions, Stack Pack(main sail cover) and the installation of a Plastimo 609S roller reefing system for the foresail. There is a cockpit speaker which can be selected to pipe through the DSC VHF or the FM Stereo radio's.

The Beta 13.5Hp engine was installed in 2005 and is an excellent example of this mark of engine. Poacher, although not roomy in comparison to other boats of a similar size, is a good sea boat which can handle rough weather with no problems. Poacher can sleep 4 persons comfortably. The shape and beam of her hull ensures she is a quick boat which points to windward extremely well. Off the wind Poacher handles comfortably and has a cruising chute in place of a spinnaker to aid downwind performance. Poacher comes complete with a full suite of sails.
