ACCOMMODATIONS “AVENTURA” has a rich interior of teak punctuated with classic contrasting white. Soothing marble and wood grace the bathrooms. Hatches have mosquito and blackout screens. Lighting is either ambient or direct, as desired. As an alternative to air conditioning, fresh air can be distributed throughout the yacht by the Make-Up Air system. Alternatively one can open the deck hatches! On deck she has a practical layout and easy access to the water thanks to the opening counter stern and steps. She has a central station for the helm, with good visibility over the pilothouse and easy conversation with the guest’s cockpit. The pilothouse/deck salon provides ample light and panoramic views. To port a dining table seats eight, to starboard is the Navigation Center and another seating area, tucked in the aft corner. Wide stairs lead to the main salon. To port is a large table surrounded by full settees, a temperature controlled wine cooler and cabinets for cutlery and china. To starboard is a full-length couch and two armchairs, which have direct view to the large flatscreen TV. Note that the TV can be concealed inside the dining settee back when not in use. Continuing aft, one descends to the guest quarters. To port are a linen locker and the engine room door. To starboard a door opens to a small guest/nanny’s cabin, with bunk beds, storage and direct access to a shower room, shared with the starboard guest stateroom. The third guest stateroom, to port, is a mirror, with twin beds with a bureau, plus an extraPullmanberth. Drawers under beds, hanging lockers and shelves provide good storage. Continuing aft, the master stateroom has an offset queen bed to port and an office area to starboard. The en-suite bathroom to starboard has a shower with a large seat, a toilet and two separate sinks. On the bulkhead opposite the bed is the flatscreen TV, which can be concealed in a cabinet when not in use. Storage is bountiful. Steps provide the owner with private access to the aft deck. Forward of the main salon a door leads to the galley and the crew mess. The galley is to port, with double stainless steel sinks, two ovens, a microwave, dishwasher, hob and refrigerator, with spigots crushed ice and filtered drinking water. A garbage disposal and trash compactor are useful on long trips. The crew mess to starboard has table for four, with settees on each side. Storage is ingenious: the table top lifts, while the back of the settee uncovers a double freezer hidden in the bulkhead. Entertainment includes TV, DVD and CD. Continuing forward is the laundry, crew access to deck and two crew cabins. To port is the Captain and to starboard is the crew cabin, with a double bed on the bottom and single above. Both cabins have en-suite heads.

REMARKS “AVENTURA” was originally built by the Danish Yacht yard, which was a part of the Royal Denship consortium. Launched in 2005, she was then immediately taken to Holland Jachtbouw to be revised and completed in the spring of 2006. Ted Fontaine’s design brief was to create a world cruising yacht for a young family. Safety and comfort were the two most important qualities, but beauty and flexibility followed suit. The lifting centreboard gives access to shallow coastal waters and the push-button rig and fold-down stern ease the interface between wind and water. The flow of the yacht, with three entrance/exits, an on-deck salon and a pilothouse, plus 4 staterooms aft for owner and guests, offer the maximum living potential for a yacht that can be handled by only four crew.
