VESSEL OVERVIEW DANCE SMARTLY, (ex. SHANAKEE) was a breakthrough design in her day and still remains current with the most modern concepts in layout and design. Her original build quality is absolutely of the first order, optimizing the best talents of the Palmer Johnson yacht yard. Ron Holland was among the first designers to blend superyacht accommodations with serious performance capabilities under sail. DANCE SMARTLY is an early and exceptional example of this concept. The low profile pilothouse offers full, line of sight visibility to the horizon from the raised entertaining and dining settee to port and navigation/communication stations to starboard. This area adjoins the lower salon, which creates a tremendous sense of volume and natural light below. Her powerful sail plan is easily managed by minimal crew, with full hydraulic sail handling. She’s remarkably light and lively at the helm despite her 130 ton displacement, due to her racing style hull form, bulb keel and skeg hung rudder. In short, this yacht lives like a castle and sails like a dream. |

ACCOMMODATIONS On Deck: The main cockpit is “T” shaped with the helm and all sailing controls aft and outboard of the entertaining cockpit. Forward of the helm to port and starboard are large settees facing a 6’ drop leaf teak dining table, which also houses a refreshment refrigerator. In 2000 the present owners added a custom hardtop that offers full protection from the elements. In inclement weather the sides can be lowered for a full enclosure. Side decks are uncluttered and the aft and foredecks are clear for sunning and relaxing. Pilothouse and Main Salon: The Low Profile Pilothouse is forward and down four steps from the cockpit. There is a raised “U” shaped dinette to port surrounding a custom teak dining table with comfortable seating for eight that offers unobstructed 270-degree visibility to the horizon. To starboard is the comprehensively equipped navigation desk facing forward and a separate desk and seat for communications facing aft. The pilothouse is open to the salon below, creating a sense of tremendous space with an abundance of natural lighting. The Main Salon has full-length sofa outboard to port with cocktail table, and 40” Samsung flat screen TV on the forward bulkhead. There are two lounge chairs outboard to starboard, with a full wet-bar and additional storage cabinetry. Natural lighting in the salon is further enhanced by hull ports outboard on both sides. Owner and Guest Staterooms: The full width Owner’s Stateroom is fully aft with a queen size berth on centerline, vanity/night stands outboard, full sofa outboard to starboard with bureau, hanging locker and 20” flat screen TV forward. There is a full writing desk forward to port and additional storage cabinetry aft. The Owner’s ensuite head is forward to port. Guest Staterooms are located port and starboard of the centerline passageway, with identical arrangements that offer remarkable flexibility because each are arranged with twin berths, which can be converted to Queen size berths with little effort. Each have ensuite heads, Pioneer AM/FM CD players, hanging locker, night stand and opening hatches to deck level. Galley and Crew Quarters: The galley and crew area is forward of the main salon, and completely separate from the guest accommodations. There are two double Crew Cabins, each with over and under single berths and ensuite heads and showers. The crew lounge is next aft to starboard with a settee surrounding the dining table, 19” flat screen TV, B & G repeaters, washer/dryer and dishwasher. The “U” shaped Galley is outboard to port and professionally equipped, with an abundance of cabinet and counter space. Galley equipment includes:
