Electronics
- The instrument system is interfaced to the Furuno GPS/Radar system, the Northstar GPS, the Simrad autopilot, and the nav station computer system. It provides the vessel with dynamic data to the above systems ie boat speed, heading, depth, sea temperature, wind speed, both true and apparent, wind angle both true and apparent, and magnetic wind direction. In turn the wind instrument system displays the above data plus the data from the navigation systems, ie waypoint range and bearing, distance to waypoint, time to waypoint, SOG etc. The lower of the two mast displays can be changed to display any information relevant at the time via two touch sensitive pads at or around the steering pedestal.
- Ockam Wind Instrument System:
- Tryad T1 processor
- Tryad T2 processor
- Airmar speed transducer
- NMEA depth/temperature sensor
- TT3-Axis digital compass
- 48" Airys carbon fiber masthead wand
- 4 Magnum displays on mast bracket
- 2 Magnum remote buttons
- 4 Matryx graphical displays
- OCKAM SOFT tactical/nav software
- Display arrangement:
- 2 Matryx graphical 4 line display in landscape mode mounted on dodger sea hood coaming
- 1 Matryx graphical 4 line display in portrait mode at Nav Station
- 1 Matryx Graphical 4 line display in portrait mode in owner's stateroom
- 4 Magnum displays on carbon mast pod below boom
- Navigation Systems:
- Primary navigation system is provided by a Furuno Nav Net System with Northstar GPS as back up, and consists of the following:
- 1 Furuno 36 mile radome style radar scanner unit
- 1 Furuno 7" color TFT LCD GPS/WAAS chart plotter with flush mount kit
- 12" Big Bay monitor
- Furuno ethernet hub
- Furuno video interface kit
- 1 Northstar 952 XW/NT color GPS
- 1 forespar leveling radar mount with provision for 2 GPS and 1 Sat Com antenna, and 1 deck flood light
- The displays/units are arranged as follows:
- 1 Furuno 7' GPS display at the helm station
- Furuno remote key pad hooked to 12" Big Bay monitor in nav station
- 1 Northstar GPS display at the nav station
- Each individual Furuno station is capable of displaying the following information:
- GPS position with NT chart and radar overlay
- GPS position data (Lat/Long, SOG, GPS heading, bearing to waypoint, etc)
- Video feed from on board cameras
- Video feed from DVD players
- In addition, the Furuno and Northstar systems (via a selectable source switch) can provide navigation information to the following:
- On board computer and laptop for navigation and charting programs
- VHF for emergency position broadcast
- Simrad autopilot system
- Autopilot System:
- The autopilot system is a Simrad AP25 series and consists of the following:
- AP2626 Kit
- AP26 Control Head
- AC20 24vdc Junction Box
- HPU-200 24vdc constant running hyd pump
- RC36 rate compass
- HLDX kit #1 linear drive unit to a 10.2" tiller arm
- AP26 control head
- AP26 Control head
- RF 300S feedback upgrade
- Control heads will be in the following locations: helm area and nav station.
- The autopilot system is a stand alone system and as such has its own gyro rate compass (and uses the wind system gyro comp as back up), and a continuous running hyd pump to reduce wear and increase electrical efficiency. It is capable of steering the vessel in the event of a steering/pedestal failure from any of 3 positions. It has an accidental gybe inhibit function for safety. It is interfaced to the wind instrument system and the navigation system and as such can steer a course to any of the following parameters:
- Apparent wind angle
- True wind angle
- Magnetic heading
- Waypoint heading
- Waypoint route
- Manual heading
- Communications:
- VHF:
- ICOM IC-M502
- ICOM HM-127 Commandmic Remote
- SSB:
- ICOM IC-M802
- ICOM AT-140 Antenna Tuner
- Weather Fax demodulator
- Sat Com:
- Iridium Euro Com fixed mount unit with antenna
- The control units are positioned in the following locations:
- ICOM VHF Commandmic at helm station
- ICOM VHF at Nav station
- ICOM SSB at nav station
- Iridium Euro Com at nav station
- The SSB provides extended range ham and HF frequency communications as well as provide WEFAX signals via the demodulator to both the nav station PC for weather fax data/pictures and navtex messages
- The sat phone provides worldwide voice (via handset) and data/e-mail via nav station computer
- Computer:
- Argonaut Avalon C2 computer
- HF remote mouse
- HF remote keyboard
- 12" Big Bay flat screen flush mount monitor
- There is a built in PC at the nav station that is capable of the following:
- E-mail/data acquisition
- Run chart programs
- Run weather fax programs
- Wind instrument control
