Featured Boat 40' Freedom Yachts 40/40 1997 US$ 145,000 STAR DANCER is the ultimate performance cruiser. She is the fastest and best sailing Pedrick designed Freedom 40/40 ever built. Built originally for the president of Freedom Yachts, she is lighter than standard boats because her hull was vacuum bagged with a custom laminate and the GMT custom carbon fiber free-standing mast is both stiffer and lighter than standard spars. The signature Pedrick designed "whale tail" keel and rudder provide excellent lift and a very responsive helm. Star Dancer is set up with a full compliment of sails including overlapping 151% and 135% genoas, and self-tacking working jib, full symmetrical spinnaker with 10% penalty pole, and large roach, fully-battened, laminated mainsail. Sailing equipment includes GPS, autopilot, and B&G Hercules performance electronics. This rig and sail plan can be competively raced with full crew or sailed short handed on long passages.
