With no less than eight different living areas to choose from, including three staterooms, two heads both with separate shower stalls, a galley that's integral with the salon, and a spacious flybridge that will be the envy of everyone on the dock, the Selene 53 is a comfortable home afloat. Her master stateroom is midship with a walk-around island berth and all the amenities of home. The forward VIP stateroom boasts an island queen berth and the port side guest stateroom can either sleep a captain and mate in the two double berths or additional guests.
The Spacious Salon
The salon is absolutely stunning! A rich teak and holly sole, leather upholstery, a custom teak dinette and bamboo blinds are just the beginning. The spacious settee is aft to the port side and it converts into additional sleeping quarters for unexpected guests. The cream colored ceiling and sliding port windows ensure that the salon has a bright and airy feel. Hand crafted cabinets and impeccable joinery work provides not only a place for your belongings, but creates a truly elegant ambiance from which to enjoy life to the fullest.
The "gourmet" galley rivals the finest home kitchen. Black granite countertops and a convenient "serving bar" allows you to maximize the counter area below. The double basin galley sink with telescoping faucet head adds versatility for the chef. A three burner stove and oven is alongside the full size combination refrigerator/freezer. You will also have amenities such as a trash compactor, convection microwave, toaster, coffee maker, ice maker, and enough cabinet space to stow just about anything for those long voyages.
Seated in the pilothouse you assume a commanding view of your surroundings. The forward raked windows are indicative of the Selene’s true nature. The teak helm paneling provides the perfect space for full instrumentation in the dash and brow, and you have the ability to monitor all of your essential systems from one seat. A meticulously labeled AC/DC panel gives you the complete status of all electrical loads. The overhead hatch will offer a cooling breeze from above, and the leather cushions offer a wonderful place to relax while steaming toward the horizon. This is a true pilothouse design!
The Flybridge and Cockpit
The standard flybridge offers an exceptional view. Twin captains chairs as well as a comfortable settee and table provides a relaxing refuge from which you can enjoy those peaceful sunsets at anchor. To the starboard side you will find a large pit BBQ, a wash basin, and cabinetry for storage. The mast and boom allow for the secure stowage of the tender. Note the stainless rail offering security while transiting to and from the cockpit.
A very spacious covered cockpit allows you to enjoy yourself rain or shine. The elegant spiral stairway offers ease and security not found with a traditional near vertical ladder. The lazarette storage below is not only convenient and spacious, but also cleanly finished with wood trim cabinetry and vinyl textured flooring.
Like all Selene Ocean Trawlers, at it's heart, the Selene 53 is a serious long range cruiser. Howard Chen, the designer and builder explains, "the hull form of the Selene 53 has a hard chine in the aft sections to reduce roll, but this merges into the traditional displacement boat's round bilges by the mid sections, giving the Selene 53 it's impressive range of 2,000+nm and an economical cruise speed of 10kts."
Selenes are not simply a work of art to behold. They have been designed and equipped to take their owners out where dreams are realized. Vacuum bagged construction ensures complete adhesion of the core to the laminate. Bow and stern thrusters are standard. A mast and boom rig allows you to safely and securely stow your tender. The quality of construction is notable. All in all you will not be disappointed at the level of craftsmanship put into each Selene yacht. We invite you to take the time to experience all that Selene has to offer.
