History of Buoy 8
Wally and Pat, the owners/sales team at Buoy 8 Ship's Store, aka "Buoy 8 Boats", love boats! In fact, they even love the ones that are parked on the back of the lot, affectionately referred to as "death row". We won't divulge how many years they've been boating, but we will tell you that Pat's first experience with boating was on a speed boat in Florida when she was three years old and Wally took his first boat ride in the James River at the age of five! Both are true "river babies" - Pat was born in Savannah, Georgia and Wally was born in Newport News, Virginia. Consequently, their first breaths of air were definitely salty!!
Their love of boats brought them together years later
and they founded Buoy 8 Ship's Store. The store is named after Buoy Number 8 located just upriver from Urbanna Harbor - their favorite spot to anchor and watch the beautiful sunsets over the Rappahannock River. Not only do they sell boats, boat trailers and supplies, but they also have a wonderful shop full of nautical gifts, home decor and collectibles.
Located on the corner of General Puller Highway (Rt. 33 East)and Urbanna Road (Rt. 227 North) in historic Middlesex County, Virginia, Buoy 8 Ship's Store is a favorite gathering spot for boaters, shoppers and anyone who just want to stop by and "swap sea stories"!
