Boatshed the beginning
Husband and wife team Neil and Mandy Chapman started the Boatshed concept in 1999.
In 1998 they took a sabbatical from their stressful jobs & went cruising for 10 months , during the trip they were rolled 360 in Storm 10, involved in a lengthy salvage claim and cruised extensively in Portugal , Denmark and Ireland.
They returned to their jobs after the sailing trip, Neil involved with running a large family business in Shropshire, UK and Mandy as a Graphic Designer in London. But both were itching to get back to the water.
The water bug was strong in these two and despite being unsure of which direction they would take, they left their jobs headed back to the water where soon after Boatshed.com was born.
"Our motive was to develop a business that would enable us to go sailing every day." Neil says.

They did not so much view their business as simply that of salesmen, but as being able to combine a genuine interest in boats with a viable business plan.
