We are delighted to introduce our new 26m flagship Contest 85CS which is now in design phase for launch in 2018.
This is our first step into the fully crewed 80+ foot sector and is made in design partnership with celebrated German naval architects judel/vrolijk & co, combining their performance design expertise with our proven, innovative construction practices completed with Lloyds’ plan approval and hull certification.
The Contest 85CS will provide for both distance cruising and regatta participation as well as very social sailing, extending the potential for performance cruising of both new and upsizing owners with comfortable capacity for up to ten guests in a customisable interior arrangement.
Additional Specs, Equipment and Information:
LOA: 87 ft 2 in
Beam: 2060 ft 0 in
LWL: 82 ft 11 in
Maximum Draft: 13 ft 2 in
The hull and deck form of the Contest 85CS follow that of the also judel/vrolijk designed and June 2016 -launched Contest 67CS.
This brings a moderate, shallow underbody running back from plumb bow, with integral bowsprit and optional furler for asymmetrics, to a soft chined, broad stern with twin rudders for precise and powerful yet light control at the twin helm stations. judel/vrolijk has perhaps the most extensive experience of all design houses with this approach, spanning fast stable cruising to performance circumnavigations.
The composite construction is according to Contest Yachts’ standard infusing techniques which have been practised for more than 20 years, under Lloyds’ approval since day one. This includes a sandwich laminate throughout, from sheerline to keel stub, with a single shot infusion for each of hull, grid and then deck.
Boosting cruising practicalities and pleasure, a large lazarette will house compressor and toys while a sizeable RIB can be stowed kept low in the foredeck tender well. The deck plan creates separate work and helm stations aft of a midships guest cockpit which provides a peaceful social zone and spacious outdoor dining area.
Beneath the sleek deckhouse the options are many, allowing for as many as ten guests, in a customisable, up to five cabin, five heads accommodation plan, supported by a crew of up to four in a further two cabins. This step into the 80+ foot sector brings with it the advantage of much enhanced privacy for guests created by fully enclosable galley and crew quarters.
Unusually at this size, and reflecting Contest Yachts' extensive, individual semi-customisation, the Contest 84 owner can specify either aft or forward master suite, with crew service quarters also changing ends. Interior design is modern-classic by Wetzels Brown Partners of Amsterdam who’ve been on board with Contest Yachts since the press-acclaimed launch of the Contest 72CS in 2012.
Great attention is being paid to noise and vibration including latest technology sound insulation to the engine room and other machinery spaces, and there is excellent service access to all systems and equipment, with also a dedicated technical room simplifying management and maintenance.
