Renowned for their long range comfortable cruisers Vripack designed a New Generation Explorer with the elegance of a Super Yacht for its customers.
The Vripack Explorer built by RMK, evolves on the main volumes of their Explorer series and keeping the good flow of the layout.
Besides designing her exterior expressions Vripack also made sure the sea going comfort, which both the Owner and the charter guests so often rave about on this series.
“The hull is based on our library of 50 years Research and Development. We performed multiple in house CFD studies and our Naval Architects executed their most extensive still water and sea keeping model test ever. All and all we spent nearly two weeks in the basin testing alone. Analyzing, optimizing and testing again until we were satisfied. This resulted for example in the yacht being built on weight target by nearly the kilo, which in turn has her burn a mere 65 liters per hour at 11,8 knots - Proving our statement that conventional yachts can go Green if designed with the proper attention.
Established in 1961, Vripack is a leading full service design, naval architecture, engineering and brokerage organization. Aiming for long term relationships with private customers, yards, fellow architects and their personnel, Vripack believes that Quality is the sum of Workmanship and Enthusiasm.

Endorsement from the Captain of an RMK Vripack Explorer Vessel
I joined Private Lives in March 2010 in the ship yard in Greece, I had seen her some years before and I had always wanted to work on her, she is just one of those yachts that really appeal, she is beautiful and built with a kind of gentle purpose, a real Gentleman’s expedition yacht.
Her lines are clean, toys are stored away from the guests, bridge has 360 degree visibility and she has an enviable range with minimal fuel consumption, this is my idea of cruising as I love practicality.
During our busy season I was surprised by the guest comments of how stable she is, nothing seems to ‘rock this boat’, even in a rolling swell she refuses to heel more than a few degrees, while at anchor we notice other larger yachts loosing dinner plates from their tables while our diners sipped their Chablis and finished hors d’oeurves in peace and calm. The clever use of the upper deck as guest accommodation allows passengers to step out of their cabins direct onto the upper deck to enjoy breakfast while at anchor, perfect privacy, from here there is no engine noise at all and they are the best cabins to travel in.
Our owner never uses the Master cabin, although it is very beautiful with its full length windows down to the water line, he prefers to step out onto his ‘private balcony’ which is the VIP deck.
Our engine room is compact and the choice of Caterpillar engines has really worked, we cruise slowly but fuel burn can be as low as 30 litres per engine per hour at 9 knots and Private Lives can run like this for weeks at an end. Having the walk in fridge and freezers below decks and 2 considerable water makers means she is a true Bluewater, go anywhere yacht.
I would, without any reservation cruise anywhere in the world with Private Lives, she is the best yacht I have ever worked on in my 15 years in the industry, this year has been a pleasure and privilege and I look forward to 2011 and another successful charter season.
