The sink has an extra water tap directly from the watermaker to supply the freshest drinking water.
Engine and mechanical
The engine is located directly under the companionway with easy access on all four sides and Saildrive access in the aft cabin. It is a reliable 4JH5-CE 54 HP Engine with Saildrive.
A Spectra 12V 8 gph desalination watermaker was installed in the sub-floor space.
Galvanic isolators were installed in the shore power lines to isolate the sail drive unit from stray electrical current in the water and prevent galvanic corrosion to the drive.
Electrical power is supplied to the boat by 2 x 30A shore power cords to run the 110V systems/receptacles and charge the batteries through a 60A charger. The batteries are upgraded AGM with 4 house and 1 separate engine/generator start batteries.
When away from the dock, 110V electric power is provided by an Onan 5 kw generator located in the port transom helm seat locker. The genset is enclosed in a sound shield box and the exhaust uses water/exhaust gas separator to provide quiet operation.
In addition, there is a Mastervolt 2000W inverter to allow use of the smaller appliances and utilize the 110V receptacles while underway without the genset.
Also, the 80A alternator on the engine can provide 12V charging to the batteries while the engine is operating.

Sails and Rigging
The sails and rigging are the standard and original Sparcraft inmast furling main sail and 106% furling head sail with lines all run to the cockpit under the eyebrow coamings. The main sail furling control is via the electric Harken 40 winch on the port side of the companionway. The main is controlled using a German Sheeting system that allows the boom trim from either helm. And the jib sheets come to the cockpit to the sheet winches (Harken 46) at the helms as well. Another Harken 40 winch is on the stbd side,
Deck and Hull
The 44DS offers a large and spacious cockpit with plenty of seating . Comfortable cushions allow you to relax in comfort. The cockpit open onto the transom steps with folding ladder. There are two cockpit storage lazzarrettes, And the companionway hatch slides down into the coaming for secure storage.
A Quick bowthruster at the helm provides safety and security while docking and/or maneuvering in tight places.
