Leopard 44 Catamaran for sale. This boat presents well is a very highly specified owner’s version that was launched late 2012. She is currently lying in the Seychelles ready for delivery anywhere in the world.
The Leopard 44 Catamarans are built in Cape Town at the Robertson and Caine facility. From the design office of Morrelli and Melvin, the Leopard 44 is equipped with the best available marine equipment and materials. A vacuum bonded E-glass end-grained balsa cored hull ensures a precise resin to glass ratio, and is highly compression and impact resistant. In addition the collision bulkheads forward prevent water ingress in the event of a collision or damage to the bow.
Interior volume is increased with the new hull chine with no compromise to the hull shape and in fact it minimises the wetted surface thereby enhancing boat speed. In addition, water is deflected resulting in drier decks and the forever talked about “bridge slapping” is fundamentally reduced courtesy of the radiused chine intersection.
The most recent addition to the Leopard 44 specification is the introduction of the forward cockpit which allows direct access to the spacious saloon. Other than this convenient feature, the door and large windows offer increased visibility with panoramic views whilst seated inside. The hatches fitted in the windows and the fore and aft saloon doors offer fantastic natural ventilation for the saloon and open plan galley. The Saloon table is unique in that it can be lowered to convert the settee into a double berth thereby increasing the sleeping capacity onboard or offering it as a pilot berth during long passages. Soft overhead LED lighting and a rich cherry wood finish further accentuate the spacious interior.
Sharing the well appointed Saloon space is the open plan galley which has been ergonomically designed with soft rounded edges on the beautiful Corian counter tops, which are conveniently heat resistant for those exquisitely prepared hot dishes coming out of the Stainless Steel Gas oven or off one of the three plate burners.
Large Stainless Steel separate fridge and freezers are fitted under the counter top below the distribution board to starboard. For those balmy days and idyllic sunsets and the need for ice increases, a conveniently fitted Raritan 220V Icemaker satisfies that need.
A microwave is fitted in the locker above the gas cooker. There is ample storage in the under the counter lockers and a double S/S basin with Mixer caters for the cleaning up after those gourmet meals.
The owner’s version features two guest (or kids) cabins to port and the entire starboard side is dedicated to the owners. The companionway to the owner’s suite can be closed off with a sliding cherry finished door for extra privacy. The spacious cabin is situated aft and is fitted with its own TV, DVD, adjustable reading lights, loads of storage under the double berth as well as a large hanging locker with plenty of shelving.
Forward is the large shower and heads compartment with an electric Jabsco toilet, Corian Vanity Unit with mixer tap and a large shower stall. In between the aft cabin and the heads is the study area with large storage lockers and a dedicated desk served by a stainless steel upholstered swing seat.
The port hull houses the two double guest/kids cabins which are both en-suite. Both cabins have plenty of under bunk storage, hanging locker and shelving with reading lights and cabin fans. The forepeak is fitted with a berth for crew or kids on a sleepover.
All the cabins, heads, saloon and galley are well ventilated naturally with hull portlights and deck hatches. In addition all accommodation and galley spaces have bulkhead mounted fans and the boat is fully air conditioned with 2 x 16000 BTU Cruisair units which is powered by a 6kW Northern Lights Generator.
All hatches, portlights and windows are covered with Oceanair screens and blinds affording total privacy in those crowded marinas or anchorages.
A Raymarine Sailing Instrumentation and Navigation package consists of the i70 colour displays for Speed, Depth and Wind with a p70 Autopilot display. The e7 chartplotter with wifi is interfaced with a 4kW 48nM digital radar. Also included in this package is the DSM 30 digital sounder module enabling the fish finder features to be accessed. Communications is looked after by the Ray55 VHF at the Nav Station.
The standard batteries have been upgraded to AGM batteries. There is an inverter/battery charger onboard for 220V/12V. AC outlets are fitted in all the cabins and the galley for use either at sea by way of the Generator or alongside by way of the Shore Power connection. Additional “green” charging is achieved by 4 x 70 watt slim solar panels mounted on the hard top covering the cockpit.
Sailing the boat is made easy with electric winches for the halyards and the sheets. The main is a fully battened mainsail with a bat car system enabling an easy hoist or drop no matter what point of sail you are on. The Genoa is fitted with a roller furler drum system.
The raised helm station with all the lines led aft to the helmsman makes for easy shorthanded sailing. The raised helm is accessed via the cockpit and has a twin helmsman seat and allows convenient 360° views making docking the boat a breeze, and in addition, easy interaction is allowed between the helmsman and guests in the cockpit.
The aft cockpit has direct access to the Saloon and is well protected by the fixed hardtop which is fitted with side and back shade curtains as well. The large cockpit table seats 8 easily. There is a custom stainless steel davit system with tackle and an electric winch which raises and lowers the 3M Tender with a 15HP Outboard Engine.
Safety is looked after with an AIS system, a 406 MHz, a 12 Man Liferaft and a full set of safety equipment, flares, lifejackets etc according to SAS category A Safety Standards.
