"Inglesea" is one of the more recent M42's built and a one of a kind Morris M42. Unlike all others, she was built with a unique two-Cabin interior for family cruising. Using a set of clever pocket doors that slide athwartship, the forward v-berth cabin can be closed off from the main salon. By moving the head/shower unit forward a bit, an additional aft cabin was incorporated in the design making the M42 perfect for both daysailing and family cruising. Always stored in a climate-controlled heated winter shed & maintained to the highest yachting standards, "Inglesea" is likely better than a new boat; having been thoroughly seatrialed, yet lightly used for summer sailing only. She is the perfect "turn key" boat for a family looking to go sailing quickly in what feels like a brand new boat.

The Morris Yachts M42 developed out of the tremendous success of her smaller sister, the M36. Retaining all of the great ease of handling features and classic beauty of the M36, the new M42 provides greater interior volume for more luxurious accommodations (especially with her unique two-cabin layout) below and an even larger cockpit with more generous seating. Morris Yachts and the legendary design firm Sparkman and Stephens have once again teamed up to produce a yacht of lasting beauty a yacht that will grace any harbor and provide her owner with pride of ownership for many years. A comfortable, spacious interior with 6' 3" standing headroom is finished in classic Herreshoff style with antique white raised panel bulkheads and gloss varnished solid cherry joinery. The galley is complete with a gimbaled stove, DC refrigeration, Corian countertop, polished SS sink and hot and cold pressure water. The enclosed head includes an electric Tecma macerating toilet, varnished cherry countertop with a polished SS sink, hot and cold pressurized water, wall mount thermostatically controlled shower and overhead hatch for ventilation in an enclosed shower stall. In the salon, the port setee is perfect for lounging or dining at the custom expanding salon table (removable) and starboard settee is also perfect for comfortable lounging or sleeping. The custom expandable table boasts beautiful marquetry inlays & world class craftsmanship and invites gracious dining. The table is mounted on a single removable-tapered pedestal and can be removed and stored in the custom fleece lined canvas bag for times when more space is desired in the main salon. "Butterfly" skylight style hatches above the dining table and eight large fixed portlights provide great natural lighting and ventilation. Twin end tables with storage lockers below and hanging lockers outboard are incorporated in the custom v-berth. Custom raised panel pocket cabin doors open and close athwartship to provide privacy when sleeping. The forward cabin provides a very large berth, full length shelves, and dove-tailed clothing drawers. A large overhead hatch and two 4 SS dorade vents provide loads of light and ventilation. Completely unique to this M42 "Inglesea"; an additional sleeping cabin has been added aft of the head/shower with raised panel door; hanging locker and side table. Perfect for a small family or two couples cruising. An additional opening deck hatch has been added over the head for ventilation and an opening port light has been added to the cockpit foot well with screen for more air in the aft cabin. Sail handling has been thoroughly engineered for simplicity, reliability, and ease of use. A Hall Spars carbon fiber mast, Hall Quick vang and SS hydraulic backstay adjuster are standard equipment. Her generous fractional rig with self-tacking jib makes for a powerful yet remarkably easy to control sail plan. As perfected on the M36, all sheets, main halyard, main furling line (has Liesurefurl in-boom mainsail furling) jib furling line, reef line, and vang control line are led below deck to rope clutches and electric winches located in the cockpit within easy reach of the helmsperson. Additional foot switches have been added to control the winches and are criss-crossed to operate winch opposite of button. The asymmetrical cruising spinnaker is trimmed from self-tailing manual winches outboard of the helm. All of these features allow for comfortable and convenient access to all sail controls for the skipper with lots of cockpit room for family and guests.
Infused composite hull with Vinylester resin throughout and Balsa corre. Composite longitudinal stringers and transverse keel floors. Fiberglass engine bed. Marine plywood structural bulkheads. Manually consolidated composite deck with Polyester resin and vacuum-bagged Core-Cell foam core. High density core replaces the standard core in areas of deck hardware and through hull fittings. Quarter sewn teak decking on side decks and cockpit sole.
Yanmar 3JH4E x SD Saiddrive unit, 3-cylinder, direct-injected, fresh water-cooled marine diesel engine, Maximum 39 hp @ 3000 RPM. Flex-o-fold 16" 3-plade propeller. Yanmar engine mount pan is fiberglass. Morris custom instrument panel at helm; includes Faria gauges with ss bezels, ignition switch, preheat button, strt button, stop button, audible alarms for cooling water high temperature, low lube oil pressure, saildrive water sensor and tachometer with light switch. Edson ss single lever throttle located on the pedestal. Engine box is fitted with Sounddown Vinyl/Foam composite noise reduction insulation.
Additional Yacht description
Wind, depth and speed instruments are standard, mounted above the companionway in correct line of sight for the helmsman. SS drink-holders provided on each side of the cockpit reflect the level of detail pursued to ensure comfortable and convenient single handed sailing. A Hall Spars carbon fiber mast, aluminum Liesurefurl boom, Forespar Yacht Rod Hydraulic/gas vang and Sailtec SS hydraulic backstay adjuster provide you with superior equipment for superior performance. All of these features allow for a comfortable and fun sailing experience for everyone aboard, convenient access to all sail controls for the skipper and lots of cockpit room for family and guests.
Forward of the control pods are spacious port and starboard cockpit seats with Sunbrella-covered closed cell foam cushions (with custom backrest cushions as well.) The seats are over six feet in length, perfect for napping or comfortably suitable for seating six adults. Hatches on all three cockpit seats allow access to below-decks storage. In keeping with Morris's attention to detail the starboard hatch is fitted with cleverly designed locking devices that eliminate exterior hardware and padlocks. A standard gloss-varnished teak drop leaf table with integrated cooler is fixed on ss threaded mounting plates between the cockpit table base and the teak riser on the cockpit sole. This allows table to be easily removed for racing. Mounting plates are recessed into the teak veneer. No more hauling out the cockpit table from some storage place when guests are ready for their lunch. The varnished teak cockpit coaming, eyebrow and teak cockpit sole reward the eye and touch. Everything just feels and looks right.
A high performance bulbed keel of moderate draft together with a high aspect ratio carbon fiber spade rudder are designed and built for speed, stability, and precise control. Exterior styling is traditional with gelcoat deckhouse and gloss varnished teak joinery including toe rail, eyebrow trim, dorade boxes, coaming cap, companionway hatch and cabin top handrails. The varnished teak toe rail runs from bow to stern and is fitted at correct intervals with custom designed integral stainless steel chocks. Pad eyes and stainless steel rub rails are also placed for the clipped on polar fleece-covered fenders. No more fumbling with fender lines. The weather decks are fitted with quarter sewn old growth teak; beautiful classic look that also assures solid footing.
Should the breeze quit before you are ready to go in, auxiliary propulsion comes from a Yanmar 39hp Saildrive diesel engine with a three blade folding Flex-O-Fold propeller. The M42 maneuvers under power as responsively as she does under sail, turns in her own boat length and backs down straight as an arrow.
A VHF radio, GPS with color display, sailing instruments with three separate displays for wind, depth and speed readings are all included aboard "Inglesea". All mechanical installations are simple and straightforward. Thru-hull fittings, filters and all regularly serviced items are easily accessible and all wiring is clearly labeled. The custom owner's manual is complete with illustrations and step by step trouble-shooting to guide you or your yard with service matters. The M42 is CE approved for Class B or C depending on optional equipment selected.
