Since it's introduction in 2002, the Selene 53 has risen to be the most popular model in the Selene range. To date there have been more than 100 Selene 53's made! Now improved the new Selene 54 is a new Generation Deep Hull series of yacht. She has a new hull design providing for yet better efficiency through the water! Head room is increased dramatically in the engine compartment as well. It's easy to see why, with a powerful combination of liveaboard comfort and excellent long range cruising in safety for a couple and their guests.
With no less than eight different living areas to choose from, including three staterooms (two with ensuite bathrooms) a galley that's integral with the saloon, and a spacious flybridge that'll be the envy of everyone on the dock, the Selene 54 is a comfortable home afloat. Yet it can still be handled easily and safely by a couple, thanks to the secure walk around decks and Portuguese bridge, two steering stations, and bow and (optional) stern thruster.
But, like all Selene Ocean Yachts, at it's heart, the Selene 54 is a serious long range cruiser. The new Deep Hull of the Selene 54 still has a blended chine in the aft sections to still help reduce roll, but this chine smooths out to a more traditional displacement boat's round bilges by the mid sections, giving the Selene 54 it's impressive range.
After being on board a Selene 54, customers often wonder how we've managed to pack so much into a 54' boat. Well, for starters, it's actually 59'10" overall, and with a beam of 16' 8". She is indeed a big Ocean cruiser!

Selene Ocean Trawlers feature several elements that make it one of the premier Ocean Trawlers on the market for the last 12 years. Innovative layouts, storage features, and excellent handling all mesh to give you a wonderful experience exploring your favorite destinations.
Storage - All Selene's accomodate long range cruising with the addition of their standard Commissary. This is typically located aft of the engine room and forward of the lazzarette. The Commissary is dry storage isolated by bulkheads that uses the full beam to give you plenty of room to store dry goods, canned foods, beverages, and most will include a deep freezer. The Commissary on the Selene 54 is accessed via the hinged hatch at the entry to the boat, just inside the Main Salon.
There are 3-4 steps down to the Commissary and the floor is covered with non-slip decking. The Deep Freeze is typically located facing forward or outboard and will have a door that opens into the Commissary. For long range cruising, this is THE place to store all of your future meals and other goods as you travel abroad.
Another Selene design Element is the Pilothouse. Selene features 2 side deck access doors for quick access to the decks and forward, as well as access to the Flybridge. The Selene side deck doors will latch in the middle with dogs that press the gasket of the door against the frame in inclement conditions. In addition, the Selene doors are opened as Dutch-style doors, giving you options for fresh air and ventilation. This is a wonderful feature when cruising different climates.
The Selene 54 flybridge deck comes in many different configurations, which are based on a 3-stateroom layout. Owners are able to create their semi-custom Selene Ocean Trawler for their style of cruising and to the needs of their family. Custom cabinets, layout configurations, and other semi-custom elements give you true control in creating your dream and get you out exploring anchorages and harbors near and far.
What Makes the Selene 54 Different
When you are looking at a Trawler, here are some important points to remember when choosing your new Selene Ocean Trawler:
- NEW AND EVEN MORE EFFICIENT “DEEP HULL” DESIGN
- LOWER ENGINE SHAFT ANGLE
- INCREASED FUEL CAPACITY
- EFFICIENT STERN AND AFT SECTIONS IN FOLLOWING SEAS
THIS MEANS THAT YOU CAN HAVE A BETTER CRUISING SPEED AND AN INCREASED RANGE – YOU DON’T HAVE TO TRADE SPEED FOR EFFICIENCY AS YOU DO WITH OTHER TRAWLERS. SELENE BUILDS THEM TO GO FASTER AND FARTHER WITH EVEN MORE EFFICIENCY
- VACUUM-BAGGED HULLS FOR INCREASED STRENGTH PROPERTIES
- CORE-CELL HIGH-DENSITY CLOSED-CELL CORES FOR INCREASED IMPACT RESISTANCE
- GRID STRINGER SYSTEM – LONGITUDINAL AND LATT SYSTEM FROM KEEL TO HULL/DECK JOINT – THIS IS INCREDIBLY STRONG
- SOLID FIBERGLASS BELOW THE WATERLINE TO 6 INCHES ABOVE
- SHAFT TUBE IS AMARTEC FOR IMPROVED SAFETY
- ISO 9001 CONSTRUCTION STANDARDS
- BUILT TO ABYC STANDARDS AND CE OCEAN CERTIFICATION STANDARDS
- “SEA-SMART ERGONOMICS” - OUR YACHTS FLOW AND ALLOW YOU TO MOVE EASILY IN THEM WHETHER AT ANCHOR OR UNDERWAY
- RADIUSED CORNERS, NOT 90 DEGREES. SAFER AT SEA AND THEY ARE MUCH MORE LABOR INSTENSIVE TO BUILD, AND LOOK GREAT!
- COVED HANDRAILS THROUGHOUT THAT YOU CAN REALLY USE
- WE HAVE A GREAT SEA GALLEY WITH PANTRY / COMMISARY STORAGE FOR THOSE LONG RANGE PASSAGES, INCLUDING A DEEP FREEZER
- A BOW AREA THAT YOU CAN WORK ON, AS WELL AS RELAX ON WITH GOOD FOOTING AND ROOM TO WORK LINES AND RELAX.
- OUR YACHTS ARE DESIGNED TO BE INHERENTLY STABLE, WITH LOW PROFILES, LOW ANGLE STAIRS, AND PILOTHOUSES THAT ARE EASIER TO ACCESS. WE DON’T STACK UP OUR BOAT TOO TALL AND YOU CAN GET A LINE TO THE DOCK WITHOUT BEING A CHAMPION RODEO HAND.
- SELENE RESALE HAS BEEN CONSISTENT OVER THE LAST DECADE WITH VALUES OVER THEIR ORIGINAL BASE PRICES IN MANY CASES.
- COMMERCIAL GRADE HULL, SYSTEMS, AND EQUIPMENT
- JOINERY WORK THAT LOOKS GREAT AND LASTS
- SOLID TEAK AND HOLLY FLOORING THAT LASTS
- ALL NEW MODELS HAVE STAINLESS STEEL WINDOWS
- SEMI-CUSTOM SHIPYARD THAT BUILDS YOUR PERSONAL SELENE
- HIGH BULWARKS
- PORTUGUESE BRIDGE W/ FULL WALK AROUNDS
- ESI FUEL FILTRATION SYSTEMS
- RECESSED CLEATS
- ALL 316 STAINLESS STEEL- HIGH QUALITY THAT LASTS
- SWIM LADDER DEPLOYABLE FROM WATER
- REVERSE-RAKED WINDSHIELDS – HALF-INCH THICK
- FRP FUEL TANKS – NOT PRONE TO CORROSION
- DIP-TUBE SYSTEM, RECOMMENDED BY COAST GUARD AND SOMETHING THAT ONLY SELENE BUILDS IN THEIR TRAWLERS. WE DON’T USE A BOTTOM OF TANK PICK-UP TUBE. THE DIP-TUBE IS MORE EXPENSIVE, BUT MUCH SAFER.
- PROFILE – SELENE TRAWLERS ARE DESIGNED TO BE INHERENTLY STABLE, WHETHER STABILIZED OR NOT. SELENE PILOT HOUSES ARE THEREFORE LOWER THAN SOME OTHER TRAWLERS, REDUCING SNAP AND PITCH IN HEAD SEAS AND THE POSSIBILITY OF INJURY WITH A BRIDGE THAT IS TOO HIGH OFF THE WATER.
FOR EACH WAVE, THE PITCH TRAVELED IS LESS, AS IS THE POSSIBILITY OF INJURY OR SEA SICKNESS WITH EVERY WAVE. ALL THAT ROCKING IN A TALL BRIDGE VESSEL WILL TAKE ITS TOLL OVER 50 MILES OF WAVES, LET ALONE 500 OR 5,000 MILES OF WAVES.
- OUR UPPER DECK HELMS ARE FARTHER BACK ON THE HULL, REDUCING THIS EFFECT AS WELL.
It is for these and many more reasons that makes a Selene Ocean Trawler one of the Premier Trawlers on the market today. Selene has their Ocean Trawlers cruising in every major ocean around the globe. Come see us to learn more about how we can create your own new Selene 54 Deep Hull.
The Selene 54 Pricing
What is the Deep Hull? The Deep Hull isn’t about increased draft, it is a new hull system created for the Selene line that gives you an even more efficient hull. The draft is the Selene 54 is still the same as previous models. The hull has been updated to create a more fuel efficient hull while also increasing engine room height, commissary height, and lazzarette height. In addition, the hull is carried farther back to the end of the swim platform, improving following sea characteristics as well as increasing waterline length. Selene Ocean Trawlers were already very fuel efficient – the new Deep Hull now gives you even more reasons to own a Selene.
Let’s talk about standard equipment. The Selene 54 comes with the Cummins 405 hp diesel engine, 12 kw Onan generator, bow thruster, and more. The same equipment you have come to know with Selene is also featured with the 54 Selene Deep Hull, including Optional equipment that can be tailored to suit your exact cruising needs.
Depending on your style of cruising, Selene Ocean Trawlers can be built with twin engines, get-home system, or wing engine. Each system is designed to give you reliability and safety for your cruising adventures.
Remember, Selene Trawlers are not stamped out like other brands. The ability to create YOUR Selene Ocean Trawler with details that matter to your cruising needs is something that few builders offer. Want to add more refrigeration to your Selene 54 Deep Hull? Let’s look at refrigerator drawers or add a unit next behind the helm seat. Want more storage for hanging your foul weather gear? Let’s work with the layout to suit it to your storage needs. Would you like to change out the barrel chairs and add a long settee along the port side of the salon with storage below? We can do that. Give us a call to build you your new Selene 54 Deep Hull, we would love to make your cruising adventures come true.
The Selene 54 has the ability to be ordered as a wide body for more interior salon and galley space. This option takes the side deck from beside the main salon and allows the interior to be pushed outboard, increasing interior salon space, storage options, and opening up other ideas for your family.
At Selene we decided to make the purchase process smoother for buyers and come up with some equipment packages that give you a framework to see what three different equipment levels might run for your budgeting needs.
