Over the past five years, F & S has built several custom sportfishing yachts in the 66’-72’ class.
F & S Owner and Founder, Jimmy Floyd, has incorporated the very best performance and accommodation features of these vessels into the design of the “Ay Caramba”.
All things being equal in power, size, load and sea conditions, no other boat can match F & S. Their secret is a Variable Deadrise Hull design with longitudinal steps. The F & S longitudinal steps are of release rather than pressure design, creating a soft ride. As the hull cuts through waves, there is aeration along the steps. Air is softer than water and in rough going, pockets of air are trapped between the hull and the water's surface by the steps. This contributes to her soft ride and superior performance. F & S is stable at all speeds on any quarter. The multi-keel effect of the vertical surfaces of the steps give unsurpassed directional stability, even while running in large following seas. An F&S hull will run with less wetted surface, less friction and more efficient hydrodynamic lift. The result is a softer ride with breathtaking and efficient performance.
At top speeds, the second step-up panels are the primary lateral stabilizers with a small portion of the chine panels adding secondary support near the transom. When you are really running, her chines may actually be above the water surface! Yet at rest or at slow-troll, the submerged chines and relatively flat outermost panels give great roll resistance, as well as maximum lift for quick planing performance.
Because of the deeply molded-in longitudinal steps, F&S hulls are inherently "stiffer" structurally. Stiff hulls do not fatigue the hull or passengers with the "oil-canning" ride of hulls that flex.
Power is delivered by a pair of Caterpillar C32A Diesels at 1925 HP, delivering a 36 knot cruise speed and a 42 knot top end speed. (with only 850hrs & warranties until 2016 or 4000hrs)

Salon and Entertainment System
A large “L” shaped sofa covered in off white Ultraleather is to starboard as you enter the electric sliding salon doorway. The carpet is a light beige that contrasts perfectly with the rich teak cabinetry. The starboard side of the salon features a row of teak cabinets which houses the 46” Samsung flatscreen television, which lifts from its concealed mounting within the marble top for viewing. The row of starboard side cabinetry also houses a Scotsman ice maker, Scotsman wine cooler, custom storage for liquor and wine glasses, and the main electrical service panel.
The remote controlled windows treatments are mounted behind custom teak valances which also serve to hide the air conditioning discharge vents. Rod storage is provided by a custom drop-down locker concealed in the headliner above the companionway threshold. Lighting is provided by overhead halogen units recessed in the headliner. The salon entertainment center is quipped with a Samsung 46” flatscreen television, Oppo Blue Ray DVD Player, Denon Five-Disc CD Changer, Marantz Surround Sound Receivers, KVH Satellite Trackvision with (4) Direct TV Recievers, Leviathan Marine PC with wireless keyboard and mouse, Wireless Internet, and an EMS Sky Connect Satellite Phone. A master Universal Remote LCD touch pad for the custom entertainment system is found in the salon. Additional multi-function remote control units are located in each stateroom.
The “U” shaped Galley is to starboard with a peninsula that serves as both a counter top working space and home for the KitchenAid undercounter refrigerator and freezer units. The forward area of the galley features a double bowl stainless steel sink with Grohe faucet and garbage disposal as well as a four-burner, recessed, ceramic cooktop. Along the the forward bulkhead there is storage above and below the marble counter top with a GE Profile convection microwave oven and Jura Impressa Expresso Machine concealed behind the teak cabinetry above. Flooring is a matte finish solid teak. The Emperador marble contertop on aft portion of the galley peninsula has an overhang with two custom teak bar stools.
An elevated “U” shaped sofa with seating for four surrounds a custom, marble topped, dinette table. Storage is available beneath the sofa base and within the table pedestal. A custom Chris Channell backlit glass mural is set into the forward dinette bulkhead. Deep drawer storage is found within the dinette base.
BELOW DECK MIDSHIP STARBOARD: The master stateroom is located to starboard at the base of the curved companionway stairs. The stateroom is highlighted by a walk around king berth, rich teak cabinetry, tiered ceiling with recessed lighting, a custom etched glass mural by Chris Channell, a cedar lined closet with concealed gun and valuables safe, vanity with built in drawers, under bunk storage, dedicated reverse cycle air conditioning system, deep cabinet storage, and plush beige carpeting. A 37” Samsung flatscreen LED TV is mounted on the companionway bulkhead and the entertainment system is networked into the shipboard system and controlled through a multi-function remote.
Master Head & Shower
Along the forward bulkhead you will find a sliding door entry to the private head and shower. The head features teak flooring, marble top vanity, mirrored medicing cabinet, large walk in shower stall, Techma fresh water toilet, teak cabinetry and moldings, and textured wallpaper.
BELOW DECK FORWARD: A single queen berth arrangement in the forward stateroom, with private head, gives your guests the room and privacy you would want for yourself. Teak cabinetry, rope lighting, and padded hullside panels, give the forward cabin a very warm and rich feel. Like all staterooms aboard, the forward stateroom has a dedicated air conditioning unit.
The aft starboard bulkhead houses a 26” Samsung flatscreen TV. Entertainment components are mounted in the aft upper cabinet, including a Denon DVD Player, and DirectTV HD/DVR Receiver.
A Bomar deck hatch is positioned on centerline over the stateroom entrance. Storage space under the berth is electric actuated, cedar-lined hanging locker, in deep upper hullside cabinets, and within storage drawers at the base of the berth.
VIP Head & Shower
This head features teak flooring, marble top vanity, mirrored medicing cabinet, large walk in shower stall, Techma fresh water toilet, teak cabinetry and moldings, and textured wallpaper.
Guest Stateroom / Port Forward
BELOW DECK MIDSHIP PORT: The port forward guest stateroom also has spacious upper and lower single berths with teak bunk rails, plush carpeting, padded panels to hullside, a cedar lined hanging locker with two drawers below, 21” Samsung TV, and dedicated air conditioning.
Crew Stateroom / Port Aft
BELOW DECK MIDSHIP PORT: The guest or crew stateroom has spacious upper and lower single berths with teak bunk rails, plush carpeting, padded panels to hullside, a cedar lined hanging locker with two drawers below, 21” Samsung TV, dedicated air conditioning, and a stainless steel engineroom access door. Access to the electronics ans storage attic is through a hatch in the stateroom headliner.
BELOW DECK MIDSHIP PORT: This head is accessible from the companway. It features a large shower stall, marble countertop and backsplash, a mirrored medicine cabinet, teak flooring, teak moldings, and and a Techma fresh water toilet.
With air conditioned discharge vents in the bridge overhang, sofa style mezzanine seating, and a stainless steel lined drink box, the anglers fishing aboard the “Ay Caramba” have little reason to leave the cockpit. The cockpit was designed with both comfort and serious sportfishing in mind. Features include teak salon bulkhead, teak covering boards, teak coaming boards, and a teak transom. The custom Release Marine Trillion Series fighting chair has an offset 4” stanchion, adjustable footrest, six rod rocket launcher, storage drawer, seat and back cushions, and a custom chair cover. Concealed beneath the mezzanine deck is a large bait freezer, bait cooler, drink box, and ice chipper discharge bin, all lined with stainlelss steel. Additional fishing appointments include a portside teak tackle drawers, a large transom fishbox (plumbed as livewell), walk-through tuna door, four flush mount rod holders in the coverboards, custom teak step box with storge, fresh & saltwater washdown aprons, recessed exterior lighting, dual 50 amp shorepower inlets, self-draining cockpit, custom stainless steel corner hawse pipes, two 24 volt electric reel outlets, removable dive ladder, four underwarer lights in the transom, and gaff and mop storage lockers. Cleaning supplies are close at hand, but out of the way, in a lift up storage console under the mezzanine step.
Access to the fly bridge is provided by an aluminum ladder on the starboard side of the cockpit mezzanine. The bridge layout consists of a port side helm console with an integrated teak pod on centerline which houses the stainless steel steering wheel and single lever controls w/ bow thruster control in handles. Helm chairs are Release Marine Trillion series, teak with a ladder backs, teak foot rests, removable cushions and 4” polished stainless steel pedestals. The deck finish is applied non-skid.
The helm console features flush mounted electronics behind lift-up plexiglass panels, a 24 Volt sub panel, Fireboy system monitor and manual discharge station, Rupp hydraulic outrigger controls, fuel & water tank monitoring system, and Caterpillar emergency back up controls. The main 12 Volt and 24 Volt bridge electrical panels are located inside the helm console. Access to the interior of the helm console is through a lift-up bench seat forward of the operator’s station.
A drop down electronics box, positioned above and slightly forward of the operator, is fitted with Caterpillar multi-function engine displays, a Simrad autopilot control head, and a pair of Icom VHF radios. Miya Epoch teaser reels, (2) Model US-9 HD and (2) Model US-8, are mounted in a concealed box above, and slightly aft, of the operator’s station.
Bridge guest seating is provided by a “U” shaped wrap-around bench to port, forward of the helm console, and an inline bench, with jump seat to starboard. The port and starboard seating areas offer storage below while the forward seating area, on centerline, conceals a stainless steel lined drink box/freezer. The seating areas have removable cushions, integrated armrests with cup holders, and protective vinyl covers. The helm is surrounded by a custom three-sided enclosure utilizing Costa-Clear see thru vinyl with white Stamoid binding. Bordering the aft portion of the bridge is a welded aluminum belly band with six rod holders. Covering the helm area is a cored fiberglass hardtop housing recessed multi-function lighting
The “Ay Caramba” is fitted with a full aluminum pipe frame Palm Beach Towers brand tuna tower. The tower features a molded fiberglass hardtop curved pipes with the latest design, standing platform, and buggy top. Three LED spreader lights are molded into the underside of the tower standing platform to illuminate the cockpit and foredeck. USCG approved LED Navigation lights are flush mounted in the hard top, on the underside of the tower helm console, and on top of the buggy top.
The upper control station has a padded backrest, stainless steel steering wheel, Caterpillar single lever engine controls, Caterpillar multi-finction display panels, Icom Command Mic port, bow thruster joy stick, a Ritchie flush mounted compass, and two overhead, flush mounted, lights. The port side of tower helm station features a concealed, gasketed, electronics box which houses a Furuno NavNet 3D multi-function display, Furuno RD-30, Bennett trim tab controls, engine stop buttons, and a horn activation button. Mounted to the forward section of the standing platform is a locker containing a freshwater washdown apron. A dual trumpet Kahlenberg air horn is mounted to the starboard side of the standing platform. Rupp hydraulic, four-spreader, aluminum outriggers are mounted to the tower structure, bridge wings, and gunwales. A Rupp center outrigger rigger pole is mounted on the underside of the tower standing platform.
Engine Room / Mechanical Equiment
Main engines aboard the “AY Caramba” are a pair of Caterpillar C32As delivering 1925 HP each. The engines sport the optional Caterpillar chrome accent package, block heaters, and the full engineroom gauge package. Entrance to the engine room is through a concealed lift-up hatch on the mezzanine deck or through a stainless steel man door in the aft portside stateroom. Mechanical spaces, bilges, and engine beds are faired and painted with Awl Grip paint to make maintanance and clean up very easy.
The pair of Onan 21.5 KW generators are mounted near the aft bulkhead. An 18 gallon reserve oil tank is mounted forward, on centerline. In addition to an extensive list of standard mechanical equipment, the engine room is home to many optional systems added to enhance long range cruising and offshore fishing capabilities of the vessel. These systems include a high capacity Racor fuel filtering system while transfering fuel to main tank, a Reverso recirculating fuel polishing system in main tank, a stand alone RCI fuel/water seperator before main engine Racors, FCI 1200 GPD watermaker, Eskimo E600 ice maker, Reverso oil change system, Caterpillar back-up controls, trolling valves, AGM batteries, raw water supply and discharge manifold system, redundant raw water pump, redundant fuel transfer pump, SnapOn tool chest with vise, engine room cameras, Willy wet vacuum, Scantron ultraviolet light water purifier, Brownie’s dive compressor to fill 4 scuba tanks at the same time and air supply in cockpit for up three divers , Livos thermostat controled air intake/discharge ventilation, SeaStar hydraulic steering, Bennett recessed trim tabs, redundant Headhunter Mach-5 freshwater pump, and a Side Power bow thruster. Virtually all shipboard mechanical and electrical systems are is monitored by a custom Maretron network viewable at multiple stations aboard the vessel.
