Low hours, superb maintenance, and quality construction are the key elements along with a stylish design that help a buyer focus on a vessel. The Fly Fisher 22 incorporates all of them. While optimized for fishing, her soft riding hull and practical layout means she will be ideal for a wide range of use. Her current owner enjoyed taking a crowd of children and grand children out but as they have moved on to other pursuits this wonderful example is available. Owner estimates that there are less than 100 engine hours on her.

Landing School Fly Fisher 22
From Landing School's brochure for the Fly Fisher 22
The Fly Fisher 22 is a handsome center console with a bit of Downeast Maine styling. Designed by Van Dam Custom Boats specifically for salt water fly fishing in the Northeast, the Flyfisher 22 is ideal for both inshore breaking surf and shallow protected water. This particular example is fitted with the optional ISO. With high fuel efficiency and low maintenance, this boat allows owners to explore and fish in a variety of conditions and bottoms. (Broker comment, looking at the amount of deadrise forward warping to a 16 degree or so deep vee aft this should be a boat that performs well in sloppy going in open waters as well).
The hull is cold molded using the West System 105/206 epoxies. Four layers of Alaskan Yellow Cedar are on the topsides and bottom. The transom is built of marine plywood (Meranti) with a solid mahogany overlay. All transverse and fore and aft structures are also built of marine plywood (by brokers observation coated in epoxy and sheathed in fiberglass). The very stiff hull is covered with 10 0z. E-glass and epoxy resin, faired with West System and primed and painted with Awlgrip Majestic Blue creating a finish comparable to any fiberglass boat.
The Flyfisher 22 features a spacious cockpit with casting platforms forward and aft, center console and leaning post. Console and I post built out of 18mm Okume Marine Plywood. Varnished Sipo (coamings and other trim) makes this boat stand out from other boats of this type. All deck hardware is stainless steel and flush mounted pop up cleats keep line snags to a minimum. Dry storage is available fore and aft in six separate lockers located under the fishing platforms with secure storage for 10' 6" rods and reels. Cockpit sole, side decks and casting platforms are fiberglassed and finished with Awlgrip with grip-tex in appropriate non-skid areas.
