You will not find a higher quality bluewater cruiser offering more of a buying opportunity. M/V Sea Spirit remains in exceptional condition!
M/V Sea Spirit is hull # 2 in the Sparkman & Stephens designed Sea Spirit Yachts Passagemaker 60 series. Designed for transoceanic range with exceptional sea kindly handling and excellent sea keeping capabilities, this luxury yacht is for sale due to a change of plans by the original owner. The family enjoyed four months of cruising aboard, with the intention of bringing the boat home from Ft. Lauderdale to Hawaii via the Panama Canal and PNW. However, after falling in love with the Bahamas, they are purchasing a much larger 5 stateroom yacht to be kept there.
M/V Sea Spirit has been outfitted and equipped by open checkbook owners with intentions of making the trans-Pacific voyage home and this yacht shows the lavishness they expended. In spite of the upgrades and additions, M/V Sea Spirit is priced to shorten the period of two-boat ownership for this family. She is captain maintained and is in pristine condition.
In addition to being priced to reflect today's subdued market, and the extensiveness of the outfitting, Sea Spirit offers the following features:
*Extensive electronics and equipment featured in the listing

Entry to the yacht is from the large wraparound swim platform, the starboard side amidships gate, or the forward starboard gate. Each access provides a different height level at which to board the yacht, offering safety and ease for boarding at docks with tidal range. The starboard side wing door or the pantographic transom door each lead to the aft deck with al fresco dining accommodations for at least 9 people. Entry is into the salon; the U-shaped galley forward; day head is to starboard. Up 3 stairs to the spacious wheelhouse and seating area with inlaid table. Down curved stairway leads to the companionway and laundry, with VIP staterooom forward with ensuite head which can also service the portside guest cabin; large master stateroom is amidships. Engine room entry is through watertight door from the stateroom or from the aft deck through the lazarette. A large flybridge and boat deck with complete helm and entertainment center is accessed by the pilothouse staircase or from the aft deck.
The ambiance of the yacht is of quality, attention to detail, and fine artistry. The honey colored teak veneer is used extensively and is all hand picked and grain matched; fine carpentry with extensive curves is exhibited by routed raised panels, crown moldings, and fine satin finish. All soles are teak and holly with excellent edge banding and margin. Numerous, well placed grabrails are throughout and are artistically designed to complement the decor. 110 and 24v lighting gives options for various levels of light in each area. All switches are neatly labeled.
The expansiveness of the salon and galley are pleasantly noticeable upon entry. The asymetrical deckhouse allows for almost full beam sizing; the 6'10" headroom adds to the voluminous feel. The ambiance is created by warm and rich woodwork, numerous lighting options, well designed use of space, and fine touches such as the box frame inset windows with tinted glass. To port is the seating area with couch, 2 end tables, and cocktail table. An abundance of storage cabinets is to starboard and also houses the entertainment systems. A desk area with chair utilizes the corner space well and is nicely accessorized.

The galley is forward of the salon, separated by a serving/eating counter. While distinct from the salon, the eye-line between the two is continuous, not broken up by eye-level cabinets. The granite counters provide good service areas for a galley that is very workable. The triangulation and design allow for easy access to all appliances necessary for gourmet prep even in a seaway. Concerns for safety at sea is also evidenced by the substantial fiddles on the stovetop.

Engine Room & Electronics
M/V Sea Spirit provides fuel efficiency by using a single 340 hp continuous duty Lugger close coupled to a MG-5091-SC Twin-Disc marine transmission with trolling valve. The Key Power 3500 get-home system is a hydraulic system mounted on the main shaft, driven by a hydraulic pump powered off either the 20kW or 16kW generators with remote engagement from the wheelhouse (the generator hydraulically powers the main shaft in the event of engine failure.) The Key Power PTO system is able to propel the yacht at 4.7 knots. Aside from the alternate power source, the single engine with two PTOs is a space saving feature allowing for walk-around room without a 2nd engine. With a comfortable cruise speed of 9 - 9.5 knots, the fuel consumption has been measured at 5.5 - 7 gph; at 7 knots in calm seas, consumption has been measured at 2gph; at 7 - 9 knots, the range is calculated at 3,000 - 7,500nm.
The watertight door with viewing port leads to the engine room which is well lit with easy service access. The stainless railing around the engine places the emphasis on safety. Five fuel tanks come with baffles, sump pumps, sight gauges, and inspection plates. "Anywhere to anywhere" fuel transfer and polishing systems and the ability to change filters while underway, all make for a good fuel management arrangement. The upgraded fuel management system includes a fuel meter and redundant fuel pumps. Fuel tankage is 180 gal in day tank, port and starboard aft tanks hold 500 gallons each, starboard forward is 530 gal, amd midtank is 350 gallons. The oil exchange system not only includes new and used oil tanks, but also a pump out valve at the aft deck makes it extremely convenient providing the ability to load and unload oil from the swim platform. Also appropriately located in the same compartment is the pump-out connection for the 60 gallon bilge water tank which is housed in the lazarette and is filtered for emergency overboard pump out. Professionally made tags can be seen attached to valves, seacocks, and fittings.
The CruisAir chilled water reverse cycle air conditioning distributes 81,000 BTUs from 2 compressors and 8 air handlers, each with its own zone control thermostat offering redundancy in event of a parts failure. SmartStart startup surge eliminators have been installed. Engine room air-intake and ventilation with de-watering/demisting system. Emergency air supply damper shut-down system for engine, generators, and engine room.
A spacious lazerette is accessed either through a watertight door from the engine room or from the watertight hatch on the aft deck. This area houses the watermaker, auto-boost isolation transformers, stern thruster tube, and provides for stowage. There is easy access toall critical systems including steering, davit pumps, plumbing, etc.

Hull & Construction
Sparkman & Stephens naval architects designed and engineered the Sea Spirit Passagemaker yachts to be stable, efficient, easy handling bluewater cruisers. Aside from being built to ABS standards, the overall safety of the vessel was of primary importance. Ease of maintenance and durability were also guiding principles. Sea Spirit Yachts has CE certified sisterships in Europe and all Sea Spirit Passagemakers are designed to be certifiable. The full-length keel and the keel shoe, which protect the prop and rudder, were designed to result in a vessel with roll dampening properties that would not be stabilizer dependent. A foil-shaped FRP rudder is constructed with stainless steel stock. Stainless steel protection/strakes on starboard hull under the anchor and on the bulbous bow. The bulbous bow reduces resistance both underway and upon water re-entry in a seaway. Aquamet stainless steel (22 HS) shafting (with Spurs line cutter). Stern tube located inside hull skeg. 4 blade NiBrAl propeller. The stabilizers also have kelp cutters installed ahead of the fins.
Solid hand laid-up fiberglass laminate is used to 8 inches above the waterline. The topsides and superstructure are constructed with NidaCore, offering increased strength with reduced weight. The transverse framing and longitudinal stringers have additional fiberglass reinforcements as well as the elimination of all wood products. All cored laminates are vacuum bagged. The hull is further protected with the rubrail integrated structurally into the hull laminate; the rubrail has a stainless steel rubbing strake from bow to stern providing additional strength and protection. The five watertight compartments offer additional integrity created by the 4 collision bulkheads.
Hull painted with Awlcraft Astro Blue. Superstructure is Eggshell white. Boot top striping in acrylic urethane paint. Isophthalic gelcoat base primer; blister-resistant gelcoat epoxy barrier primer and anti-fouling bottom paint below waterline. Non-skid deck surfaces finished in gelcoat. New bottom paint 11/10 and PropSpeed applied to running gear. Sparkman & Stephens signature cove stripe in gold paint. Two life ring recesses located on amidships port and starboard behind wheelhouse side door. Main deck, portuguese bridge, and forward flybridge bulwarks are finished with solid teak cap rails. Bilges, lazarette, some access location and engine room finished in white epoxy paint.
Plumbing & Bilge System
Each of the five watertight compartments has independent bilge pumps, a total of 10; labeled and lighted bilge alarm layout panels are affixed in the pilothouse, master stateroom, and flybridge. All high bilge pumps have sensors fitted to a loud audible alarm in the 4 main bilge compartments (lower pump: 2000 gph, elevated pump: 3700 gph). There's a 60 gallon integral bilge tank dedicated to engine room and lazarette oily water collection with discharge filter and pump out. Bilge air circulation system under lower accommodation compartment.
400 gallon integral fresh water tanks of FRP construction with stainless steel access cleanout hatch. (2) 24V DC electric fresh water pump with large accumulator tank.
(2) holding tanks: Stainless steel inspection hatches and macerators with a Y and back-flow preventer for waterline discharge or deck pump-out. All hot water pipes throughout the vessel are insulated.
(5) Aluminum alloy fuel tanks w/Head Hunter Tank Sentry System sensors
150 gal FRP black water tank, Sealand Tankwatch
130 gal FRP gray water tank, Sealand Tankwatch
60 gal oily bilge water tank, Sealand Tankwatch
Raritan water-saving fresh water toilet system
30 gal stainless steel Torrid hot water heater
Great attention has been given to noise suppression throughout the vessel. Accommodation soles are cored with sound attenuating honeycomb Nidacore. The main deck sole has additional Quadzero flexible foil face and Wavebar noise barriers. The engine room walls, ceilings, and bulkheads include dampening sheets and layers of mass composite acoustic barriers with an exterior layer of white powder coated perforated aluminum sheeting. Pumps and motors are isolation mounted where possible. Aquadrive anti-vibration flexible coupling and generators set on isolation mounts above 12mm of Sylomer cell structure further reduce the transmission of vibrations.
Engineered acoustic insulation materials: Engine room bulkheads and deck head: 1/4” dampening sheet, 2 layers of 11/4” mass composite with powder-coated white perforated sheet aluminum held in place by neoprene air-space strips and edging.
Forward side of forward engine room bulkhead: 2 layers of sound dampening composite. Engine room hull side fore and aft of wing tanks covered with 11/4” mass composite acoustic barrier partially covered with powder-coated white perforated aluminum. Wing tank E/R facing surfaces covered with ” acoustical damping sheet overed by white powder-coated perforated aluminum.
Salon sole: 1/4” sound dampening sheet sole extending under cabinetry. The main deck floor is also covered with Quadzero 3.5mm foil face flexible noise barrier Wavebar 8kg/m2 on top.
The foredeck offers seating for sunning or comfortable viewing underway with storage beneth the seats. The numerous and stylish stainless steel freeing ports have vertical line rollers to prevent line chafing. High bulwarks, 50 inches forward and 47 inches from amidships aft, also contribute to the solid and secure feeling on deck. The Portuguese bridge offers greenwater deflection as well as quality stowage accessible from large doors on the aft side or from the deck seating forward. Two centralized fuel filling systems allowing both fuel tanks on each side to be filled simultaneously. Pressurized sea water wash-down system for fore deck adjacent to chain locker & aft deck/integral swim platform. Freshwater wash-down quick-connect bibbs (also on FB, aft deck, and anchor locker). Pressurized seawater washdown system runs automatically when windlass is retrieving anchor.
Muir 3500 hydraulic windlass (controls at bow, WH,FB, & on YachtController)
Another of the great features of the Sea Spirit 60 is the aft deck. While this is an additional ideal area for alfresco dining for up to 9 guests, it is well designed to also allow access to the swim platform. Settees with Sunbrella fabric to port and starboard of the door access are built into the bulwarks with storage below and cabinets on the sides. Two varnished teak table tops serve the two settees. Cleverly designed, there is a removable table top leaf and seat insert for extending the seating and dining area when entry to the swim platform is not needed. The teak deck is sun and water protected and adds comfort and elegant touch. A capstan is on the port side for ease in stern anchoring, dinghy retrieval, or hauling in "the big one" (not meaning m.o.b.)
The locking centerline pantographic transom door swings out for easy access to the swim platform which includes a large wet storage compartment, 25 gallon circulating bait well (or kiddie hot tub fed by adjacent hot/cold freshwater shower), and retractable pocketed swim ladder. Integrated swim platform perimeter rub rail with 3”x1/2” oval stainless steel rubbing strake; 2 stainless steel pop-up cleats on swim platform. Forward of the transom door are recessed cabinets, one for the controls for easy dirty oil discharge with fresh and salt water hose connections and the other for hand-held hot/cold shower fixtures.
The canoe stern design not only offers better sea keeping, particularly in aft seas where the Sparkman & Stephens design team have perfected the sailboat based hull form, but it also offers unique aesthetic appeal. Additionally, this design allows for an oversized wrap-around swim platform which provides the ability to board from either port or starboard side from marina docks, as well as the ability to tie up numerous water toys and still have maneuverability for boarding, fishing, and utilizing the extra "real estate" space.
Entry to the flybridge is from stairs on the aft deck or from the wheelhouse through a pneumatic lift stainless steel framed hinged Manship door/hatch with tinted window. The underway visibility from the full beam flybridge station is excellent and the fore/aft placement of the helm is ideal. Seating for family and guests is generous at large dining table; additional double observation seat is to starboard. Portside is a chef prep area with fold-down lid, ice-maker, and stainless steel sink. Rigid stainless steel remountable awning with Sunbrella fabric provides shade for this area. Numerous areas of generous stowage.
Aft of the seating area is the "Stack." Although, M/V Sea Spirit is wet exhaust, the stack provides an appealing profile and gives a great location for housing the slide-out BBQ grill and propane tanks on the portside; the starboardside includes a large storage area for fenders, lines, or deck chairs. The navigation mast is hinged and can be easily lowered without the need for "yard assist."
The aft area of the flybridge, which can also be accessed by stairs from the lower aft deck, is convenient for storing the dinghy. Safety rails around aft deck with removable section to facilitate tender launching, although tender can be launched with it still in place. The custom removable dinghy chocks prevent toe-banging when dinghy is not on deck.
