Beneteau Figaro II. To follow in its predecessors footsteps is a mighty task to achieve, but the FIGARO 2 has all the makings of a fast, exciting monotype for the 21st century! Designed for solo and short-handed sailing with the aid of water ballast, the FIGARO class remains the training ground for the Yachting Superstars of the future. Michel Desjoyoux, Ellen Macarthur, Alain Gauthier, Florence Arthaud to name but a few. With strict One Design rules, and low-tech sails and base electronics (to keep the costs low and on a strict parity), and the ever-increasing following by the public for this sector of International Yacht Racing, it is certain that the circuit will grow rapidly with the arrival of this new design having seen no less than fifty boats hit the water in the first year. From initial research, the FIGARO 2 would also seem to be a competitive fully crewed racing yacht under modern handicap rules, once certain ORC-compliant modifications had been achieved and the water ballast system sealed off. She could thus also show great potential in two-handed races such as AZAB etc. | ||
