Accommodations & Layout
The MJM was conceived as a day boat and perhaps cocktails for up to 10 +/-, dinner for 4, and sleeping for 2 (4 in a pinch). Accommodations for 2 below and 2 on the helmdeck (the helm deck settees make very comfortable berths, the listing broker writes from experience). Below there is ample light and ventilation with a large hatch with Ocean Air blind and screen and two opening ports in the house and 2 hull ports. Generous 12 volt lighting with overhead Cantalupi lights on dimmers and swivel style reading lamps at the berth. When on the colder seasons or on a damp or cool morning, a Wallas diesel cabin heat system is fitted to add warmth.
The convertible V-berth area is over 7' in length and doubles as the dining area. The table will seat four for dining. Aft and to starboard is a bureau with cabinet above with attractive storage space which includes shelving and housing for bottles and wine glasses if one desires or one which could house an entertainment system.
Aft and to port is the fore and aft Galley with Corian counter tops, extensive storage, single basin stainless sink with H&C pressure water and potable water purifier, as well as a single burner ceramic cook top and convection microwave. Icebox equipped with 12 volt Seafrost refrigeration system with freezer section. A hanging locker is just aft.
Opposite the galley is the enclosed head with Vacuflush W.C., Corian vanity, sink with H&C pressure water with "telephone" type faucet to use as an ensuite shower draining to a separate sump.
Up two steps (storage and battery switches under) to the helm deck with single Stidd seats P&S followed by onboard facing bench seats. A second varnished teak table with fold out leaf is on the helm deck and will seat up to 4. Below the bench seats are what only can be described as voluminous storage lockers with space for two bicycles or equivalent volume gear both P&S. The fully equipped helm station is forward and to starboard with companion navigator's seat to port. Both Stidd seats flip down to provide more berth space on the settees when desired.
Aft is the inviting cockpit with full width removeable transom seat. Lazarettes P&S and P&S steps to the side decks with convenient hand holds to transit fore and aft. The starboard side of the transom seat easily pulls out to access the transom door and swim platform. Decking in the cockpit and helm area is raw teak with varnished teak and holly below.

Hull & Deck
Majestic Blue Awlgripped "composite hull" with white boot top and gold cove stripe. The bottom is finished in red epoxy anti fouling and given her being a fresh water boat has only had to be given one additional coat since new.
The MJM 34Z hull is cored with Corecell closed cell foam in wet pre-pregged E-glass and Kevlar on the outer skin and then solid laminate on the centerline, chine flats and rail edge. The exterior laminate is Kevlar, hence the description of the layup as being composite. All laminate is laid up in Gougeon System epoxy. The reason for this is three fold: 1. Epoxy when cured has a similar elongation and bending characteristic as the fiberglass and Kevlar itself there for over millions of cyclical loads there will be less breakdown between the resin and the rest of the laminate compared to vinylester and polyester resin 2. Epoxy has the greatest water resistence of any resin. 3. Epoxy has the greatest chemical bond to the laminate. After the structure is completed the hull & deck are heated to 140 degrees for 3 days to fully post cure all resin; in total providing the strongest, lightest, most easily driven hull in the industry.
The house and deck are similarly cored and constructed though no kevlar was used. The decks are finished two tone with sand colored Awlgripped non-skid on white.

RASCAL has been lovingly maintained by her one and only owner and has only been used in fresh water and stored in inside heated storage in the off season from approx 9/15 thru 6/15 and has very low hours. Accordingly, she shows amazingly well. Her first taste of salt water (beyond the builder's sea trials, will be to put her in the 2013 Newport Brokerage Show and then to an inside heated storage facility in Maine, the balance of the life of this exceptional MJM 34Z has been solely in fresh water.
The owner's comments when calling to list her were "She is the best built, most functional and well thought out boat I have ever owned!" Previous boats include a Grand Banks 42 Europa and Alden 44 and Morris Justine sailboats!
Zodiac inflatable with Honda 4 cycle 2 hp outboard motor
This exceptional MJM 34Z will be on display at the Newport, RI Brokerage Show beginning Sept. 12th if not sold sooner!
