Price reduced from $450,000! Exploring a new anchorage in the San Juan Islands, daysailing on a warm September afternoon or making an ocean crossing – NIKITA does it all. Hallberg Rassy’s renowned construction and German Frers’ modern hull design pairs strong sailing performance with safety and comfort. Her spacious two stateroom layout with optional “captain’s chairs” in the salon is open and inviting. Storage is ample and well conceived and systems access and installations are designed for ease of use. Her interior is beautifully constructed in satin finished mahogany with ample use of solid wood. Serious attention to detail is evident everywhere one looks – below the floorboards and in the corners no one even sees. On deck, NIKITA’S cockpit is sheltered by HR’s signature “windscreen” and easily stowed dodger (a bimini also provides shade for the cockpit). Her Selden furling mast and genoa furler allow a short crew to easily depower her sailplan. A well designed anchor locker, cockpit locker and aft lazarette provide ample storage on deck, and her sugar scoop stern with swimstep is fantastic for bathing or boarding the dinghy. NIKITA recently arrived in Seattle after a 52 day, non-stop delivery trip from New Zealand. Many of these miles were upwind. Her final miles into the Straits of Juan de Fuca were surfing down thirty foot waves in November storm-force winds. This is an impressively fast voyage for a forty foot blue water cruising sailboat. The Hallberg Rassy 40 is constructed to the same high standards as its proven predecessor, the HR 39. The current generation of Frers-designed yachts is significantly faster due to increased waterline, powerful sailplan, and more efficient rudder and keel. Hallberg-Rassy’s elegant hand fitted mahogany interior, ample tankage and storage, and evolutionary seagoing layout has been retained. Indeed the Hallberg-Rassy 40 is a contemporary and fast blue water cruiser.
NIKITA was commissioned in Connecticut. Her owners, a family of four, sailed from New England south to the Bahamas and Caribbean, and transited the Panama Canal in 2009. After voyaging across the South Pacific to New Zealand, NIKITA was delivered on her own bottom to Seattle where she was just hauled for new bottom paint. Her outfitting includes Spectra watermaker, Duogen wind/towing generator, Icom 802 SSB with Pactor modem, Raymarine electronics suite with AIS receiver, and all the proper gear needed to safely and comfortably cruise the world. She is one of the few contemporary, late-model, high quality used cruising vessels available in North America.
The Hallberg Rassy 40 is CE certified by Germanischer Lloyd and delivered with a CE certificate and plaquette for Category A (unlimited ocean voyages). | ||
