The Selene 59 Layout and Specifications
The Selene 59 was specially ordered by the owners and built to accomodate their desire for serious long range cruising. From layout to systems, the details were looked at carefully to ensure dependability, function, and safety as well comfort. The layout of "Watta Ryde" is an example of this by being a Wide Body Selene 59.
In addition, it was built with a day head on the aft deck. This is an excellent feature often found on larger yachts. it allows guests to be able to use a head on the main deck, as well as be able to use the washroom when playing on the swim step or fishing. Instead of going through the main salon and down to a stateroom, the day head is quick access and tucked away on the aft deck. Some people hardly notice it until the door is opened.
As a Wide Body Selene 59, the main salon benefits from the additional beam to the port side and is decidedly huge. The exrea room in the main salon is very appreciated by the owners. They are still able to work with fenders from the upper deck along that side and felt the trade-off for the interior space, where they spend so much more time, was well worth it. This allowed for the day head and gave them much more family space and comfort.
The Selene 59 is a typical Selene Ocean Trawler in its 3 stateroom layout. The VIP Stateroom is forward, with the Guest Stateroom to the port side just aft of the VIP, and the Master Stateroom is centerlline amidships for extra comfort and space.
Aft of the Master Stateroom is the Commissary area - a Selene feature on most models for extra storage for frozen foods, laundry spaces, and food/gear storage. A desk is here with ships computer, as well as washer/dryer and deep freezer.
The cabin area can be access via 2 stairways - one immediately off the galley and down to the Master and Commissarry, and another stairway from the pilthouse down to the center hallway between the Master, Guest, and VIP Staterooms.
The VIP Stateroom features a centerline double berth with hanging lockers outboard. There is storage below the berth, as well as drawers and shelves for extra clothing storage.
The VIP has an ensuite head and shower. Granite counter top and teak and holly make this a very elegant space.
Next aft to port is the Guest Stateroom. It features two berths, one with pullman-style to add the second berth space or to leave up against the wall for use as an office or TV/game room for guests.
Aft and amidships is the Centerline Master Stateroom. It features hanging lockers outboard and forward of the berth. A vanity to the starboard side and drawers are available for her. The ensuite head features granite counter top and excellent shower facilities.
Aft of the Master Stateroom is the Commissarry. This is where the laundry facility is with a desk top. Also here to outboard is the deep freezer. The electrical room is to the port outboard and holds the chargers, inverter system and other ships components. They serve the helm and main electrical panels.
Up the stairs to the main deck level is the Main Salon and Galley. The Main Salon benefits from the Wide Body layout that opens up the port side of the vessel while leaving an outside walk-around on the starboard side. This puts more usable space for owners and guests where they are for 99% of the time.
There are 2 reclinable chairs to the port side of the main salon. To Starboard is the L-shaped settee with Selene Table and leaf system. This table opens up in the center and a leaf opens on a track, falling into place. Close the table back to the locking pins and you have extra space for more guests at meals.
The galley is U-shaped and offers excellent storage and features a Sub-Zero refrigerator and freezer drawers. The propane stove has been upgraded from standard to an excellent imported BertazzoniPorfessional 4-burner stove and oven for larger burner sizes and easy operation.
This is one of few builders that creates an engine room that you can stand up in and also walkaround. The Keypower get-home system leaves room that a wing-engine would take up and allows you full access around the engine. To starboard of the engine is a work bench with vise, with tool storage over the 25KW Northern Lights generator.
ESI Fuel Polishing system is against the bulkhead for regular polishing of the fuel tanks. The Fuel Cpacity of "Watta Ryde" is 2,200 gallons for great cruising range.
Stabilizers are located forward of the port/starboard fuel tanks and easily accessed. The Selene 59 features stabilizers, Keypower get-home, a hydraulic-driven 100 am Balmar alternator, 25KW Northern Lights Generator, Cruise-Air reverse cycle air conditioning, Kabola Hot water heating, and ESI Fuel Polishing system.
The Selene 59 "Watta Ryde" is very well equipped for long range cruising.

Replacement for this vessel would be around $2,200,000 for the wide body option, day head, hardtop, and complete hydraulic bow/stern/windlass and stabilizer systems. This is a very well equipped Selene 59 by a knowledgeable Selene owner. They are taking these same systems and capabilites from their beloved 59 Selene to their next new Selene.
