The boat was designed as a fast passage maker also rating favourably under the IRC handicap rule. She excels at both. The 4 tonne Welbourne design (low drag) bulb ensures good stability in a breeze, and the fine entry, low wetted surface area hull and good sail area gives her exceptional light airs performance. Generous size but non overlapping headsails allow secure swept back spreaders, make sail handling easy and give her high pointing ability.
On acceptance engine trials she did over 8 knots, and on her first sail crossed the Baltic in a day, flying past everything in sight effortlessly. Neither she or her (tiller steered) sister ship have raced heavily but both have raced under the name Assassin as well as sponsor names and have an excellent record. This includes Winning the Class 1 and Overall Solent Series championships in 2009, 2nd Overall in the Nab Tower race, and Ramsgate Week Class 1 Overall, and winning the 2009 Vattenfall race by 15 minutes. She was 1st in division and IRC Overall ARC Transatlantic Race (Global Yachting Charter). She is an excellent charter boat, being easy to sail and sea kindly but with voluminous accommodation. Due to high demand has spent much of her time on charter. Her steering position is exceptionally well considered and comfortable with good visibility.
