The Westcoast 46 is based on a tried and true hull originally designed as a Tollycraft 43, then significantly modified to its current form. It is sea kindly, efficient, quiet and comfortable.
Designed by Ed Monk Jr. and built by Forbes Cooper, local master of over 8,000 builds, Westcoast Spirit is hull number 17 of approximately 20 Westcoast 46s completed.
Throughout "Westcoast Spirit"
The low profile of Westcoast Spirit's tri-cabin layout presents a traditional line, combining rugged good looks with comfort, safety, and timeless style.
Board Westcoast Spirit via the transom door from the swim platform, to the low cockpit, aft deck, and walk-around side decks to either the port or starboard salon doors.
Salon windows are placed at just the right height for all on board, whether sitting or standing, to take in the views. Throughout the yacht, the sense is one of openness, and brightness, with intimate access to the ocean vistas!
Westcoast Spirit is a perfectly sized yacht for a cruising couple with room for occasional overnight guests, and plenty of entertaining!
Accommodations are in two private staterooms. The owners' stateroom is aft with a walk-around queen berth, cabinetry, lots of storage, and an ensuite head with shower stall.
There is a screened deck hatch along with six opening port lights for natural light and ventilation, reading lights, overhead lights, and a panoramic aft window, all with custom fabric treatments for privacy.
The private ensuite head aft has a granite counter, storage locker, quiet flush Jabsco marine toilet, vent fan, opening port light, and separate shower stall.
The forward guest cabin is a comfortable V berth with filler pad, deck hatch and portlights with screens and custom curtains, reading lights and overhead lights, hanging locker.

The salon is bright, open, and uncluttered with access to both port and starboard side decks. Large windows with recessed mini blinds, L-shaped settee to port with the optional Hide-A-Bed underneath, entertainment cabinet to starboard with built in TV and storage, a breakfast bar with a polished granite top, and stairs up to the aft deck and flybridge.
There are numerous advantages of a galley down design. being lower int he yacht is more comfortable underway. In the Westcoast 46, the galley down is open to the salon ceiling with an opening portlight at hand, and the windscreen above. It is a bright, secure place for preparing snacks and meals. And when entertaining, the galley is nicely separated from the salon, and not as visible by guests in the salon.

The lower helm is forward and to starboard of the salon, with the starboard door to the side decks right at hand, for better visibility when docking on starboard.
Instruments and controls are easily at hand with a large panel, stainless steel steering wheel, and a captain's chair.
Flybridge and Aft Deck
The flybridge is accessed from the aft deck, which in turn is accessed via stairs from the aft cockpit or from inside the salon through a companionway located starboard aft.
It features an integrated radar arch, and is fully enclosed with removable panels, and a zip-out window forward and a zip-out door aft. There are captain's and mate's chairs, a stainless steel steering wheel, and another array of instruments and controls.
Traditional teak decks, with a varnished teak caprail.
The aft deck, above and forward of the cockpit, is excellent lounging area. A few steps up on both sides of the cockpit, the side decks lead to the salon doors, and the foredeck.
The BBQ is located on the aft deck cabinet, and there is a large storage lazarette under the cockpit sole, where the genset is located.
Tender is an Aquapro SMR 1001 with a 6 hp Yamaha outboard.
