Her owner, a professional boat builder with 40 years of experience building steel commercial fishing boats ranging from 50 to 100', and then private yachts in the Pacific Northwest and California, built AWAY OUT as his personal boat. He brought to the table over 40 years of accumulated knowledge about what really "works" when a vessel is put to the most rigorous tests the sea can dish out. As a master craftsman in steel fabrication, he used the strongest and best materials available to build his boat, with special attention given to the smallest detail of the welds, the surface preparation, and the coatings used throughout the vessel's interior and exterior.
