Designed by Steve Colgate in conjunction with naval architect Jim Taylor the Colgate 26 is built by Precision Boat Works,
The Colgate 26 is one the best all around sail boats on the market. While it is a great family day sailor, and superior trainer that is in use by the Naval and Coast Guard Academies, as well as Norfolk Naval Station and Maine Maritime Academy. The Colgate brings home the silver. Even with a set 162 PHRF on the Southern Chesapeake. The Colgate's are winning and placing in races all over the Bay.
The boat does well in all wind speeds. With a 4.5' keel, rigid stainless life lines, a powerful rudder, and a stable ride this boat is the perfect family day sailor,
This boat comes with cushion packages for the exterior and interior. It has a virgin porta potty, and even a small sink with a fresh water supply.
Whether you want an outing with your family or your racing buddies, the Colgate 26 will deliver. There is a Harken roller furler, and self-tailing winches. The sails are by North. You will have a main, 100 Jib, 155 Jib (No penalty on Southern Chesapeake), spinnaker and pole (Which I have never flown.).
The boat will come with life vests life vests; flares, anchor, hardly used Yamaha 6 HP 4 stroke outboard, and dock lines. The bottom will be clean. You will be ready to race or cruise on the spot.

Manufacturer Provided Description
By combining exciting performance with safety and durability at exceptional value, Steve Colgate and naval architect Jim Taylor created the 25'8" Colgate 26 to put the fun back into sailing. A spacious 11'6" cockpit provides ample room for six adults. Below you'll find storage for both daysailing and weekending. The computer-designed underbody creates stability and exceptional performance in both light and heavy air. Durable fiberglass construction minimizes upkeep. For safety, the COLGATE 26 is virtually unsinkable, even if holed, and is completely self-bailing. Rigid cockpit railings provide security and comfort. The COLGATE 26 was named Cruising World Magazine Boat of the Year in 1997 The effective rudder allows excellent maneuverability and easy steerage in even the most extreme conditions. The deck-to-hull joint is through-bolted and covered by a custom extruded, hard rubber guard. Extra reinforcement has been added to the keel / hull junction as well as to all other high impact areas. The use of CoreCell foam adds additional strength to the deck and cockpit.
