When Glacier Bay was making this power catamaran, the owner went to Seattle to offer suggestions. As a result, this boat is in some respects custom-made.
It includes little touches, like the door from the aft deck to the cabin opening inward to the left instead of the right, which allows easy access to a refrigerator in the cabin along the starboard side. A large grill stands on the aft deck --- big enough that it would make football tailgaters proud. The boat seems equally tailored for entertaining, living aboard, and voyaging.
The boat has all the advantages or a hardtop and all the advantages of canvas, because the cabin is enclosed by a hardtop and the deck toward the stern can be enclosed by canvas. The canvas has windows on the side that can be covered keep the sun out or rolled up to let fresh air in.
As for power, this boat's got plenty. The two diesel 2005 Cummins 380-horsepower inboard motors push this boat about 30 miles per hour at maximum speed.
Chines along the exterior of the undersides of the boat add stability.
Optimum cruising speed is 20 miles per hour, at 2,100 revolutions per minute, which typically consumes about 10 gallons of diesel per hour per engine (or 20 gallons per hour total).
The port side engine had 610 hours on it as of early September 2012; the starboard side engine had 617 hours on it.
The Fisher Panda generator had 86 hours on it as of mid-September 2012.
The two hulls of the catamaran connect underneath toward the bow, meaning the area down below is ample. A V berth on the starboard side connects to sleeping space in the middle and storage on the other side.
Speaking of storage, it's everywhere. Compartments pop up all over the place down below, particularly near the galley on the starboard side, but also on the port side, as well.
The steering wheel in the cabin is close to being in the center of the boat as opposed to either side, which helps provide more visibility than a pilot at the helm in a cabin typically has.
The current owner loves this boat, and he appears to have taken good care of it. He's selling it because of a change of lifestyle.
