STRENGTH, SAFETY AND COMFORT
This expedition trawler was designed by famous Dutch yacht designer Rene van der Velden and has a functional and tastefully designed interior by Joachim Kinder. Design guidelines were maximum safety, extreme stability and straight-forward handling. The result is a very attractive ship that combines classic lines with a sturdy and seaworthy hull shape; blending aesthetics and ergonomics with efficiency and comfort. Built with robust construction throughout, her inviting salon, open galley and comfortable cabins offer an ideal liveaboard environment for extended exploration. Her substantial beam of 20'+ helps create an overly spacious interior for a 70' yacht and encompasses a total of about 1100 square feet. The Portuguese bridge contributes to a dry ride and ease of docking. She is remarkably equipped with modern electronic equipment and special attention was paid to the internal heating system, making long range cold region voyages most comfortable.
BELOW THE WATERLINE:
Hull construction is composed of exceptionally strong e-glass, which the builder states is immune to dilapidation and nearly bulletproof. It is up to 60 mm thick on the bottom and approx. 40 mm thick on the hull sides. The vessel's increased stability is due in part to the Fairmont's bulbous bow, which is a substantial protruding bulb at the bow of the ship just below the waterline. This design modifies the way water flows around the hull, reducing drag, and thus increasing speed, range and fuel efficiency. Ships with bulbous bows generally have 12% to 15% better fuel efficiency than similar vessels without them. The bulbous bow also increases forward buoyancy, hence reducing pitching of the ship. The moderate draft of only 5' 5" offers almost limitless access to tropical islands, harbors and marinas.

Entrance to the main level is on the ship's starboard side via a watertight door. Step into the salon area which has two settees in an L shape, a cocktail table, built-in end tables and storage cabinets. There's also a console with built-in pop-up TV. Moving forward are three steps leading down to the galley (port) and dinette (starboard). The galley features numerous kitchen cabinets and utensil drawers. There are granite countertops, twin stainless-steel sinks, an expresso machine, toaster, built-in dishwasher, oven, range top, trash compactor, stainless steel stove, stainless steel refrigerator and freezer. Complete set of pots and pans, dishes, cups & glassware and complete dining utensils. Opposite to starboard is the dinette table with built-in L-shaped settee and two pull-out stools providing total seating for seven.Continuing forward, down three steps is a day head with a vanity, sink, mirrored medicine cabinet and electric toilet. Next to port, is the master stateroom with ensuite head. There's a separate shower stall, vanity with sink, toilet, and an armoire with hanging locker, several shelves and a safe for valuables. The stateroom features a queen-sized bed, cabinets, dressing stool, a bulkhead-mounted TV and hidden gun cabinet. Next forward is a guest cabin to starboard, with a single berth, cabinets, dressing stool, built-in hanging locker and writing desk. The VIP stateroom is forward with a queen-size bed that is accessible from either side, a luxurious head with separate shower stall, sink and vanity, a bidet and toilet. This cabin also has a built-in DVD player and TV.
From the salon a portside curved stairway leads up to the bridge, where the helm is on centerline. There's an L-shaped dinette with day berth behind it and refrigerator for cold drinks. On either side of the bridge are watertight doors, port and starboard, leading out to wing stations on both sides of the Portuguese bridge. This bridge has a center door which steps down to the forward deck, where there is a crane and an inflatable with a four-stroke Honda outboard motor.
From the bridge there are steps leading up to the aft deck, which is covered with a soft top and has a large teak dining table with chairs – dining for six. From the aft deck there are steps up to the flybridge and sun deck where there are sunning pads and a spotlight. At the ship's highest point there is a mast with hailer, radar, satellite TV antenna, wind speed direction, tracfone, horn, various GP antennas.
Lower deck access to engine room is from two places: one is a watertight door on main level's starboard side, and a second watertight door provides access from the swim platform. Starting aft is the spacious lazzarette, which provides access to steering gear, auxiliary batteries, passarrelle, etc. Moving forward, starboard side is the laundry area with separate washer and dryer plus ample counter and storage space. Opposite to port are the crew quarters which sleeps 2 in separate bunks. There is a crew's head with sink, toilet and separate shower stall. Continuing forward is the midship engine room which is big by any standard and air conditioned. It offers standing headroom and excellent access to both engines, generators, AC systems, pumps, valves, stabilizers and features a workbench.

LAYOUT & DESIGN
This explorer offers a three-deck layout with large pilothouse and 200 square feet of deck space. A Portuguese bridge with port and starboard wing stations facilitates easy docking. An upper third deck has plenty of space for observation and sunbathing. The aft deck has a dining table and settee with seating for six. Her air-conditioned midship engine room is huge by any standards and offers stand-up access to engines, generators, AC systems, pumps and stabilizers. It also has a workbench with vise and is an engineer's dream come true! The air-conditioned lazarette offers extensive storage and has a watertight door which opens to the swim platform. Just forward is the laundry area with separate washer and dryer plus ample counter and storage space. Opposite laundry is crew quarters with two single bunks plus a head with sink, toilet and shower stall for the crew. The pilothouse is accessible from the salon, the second deck terrace and through a pair of watertight doors, port and starboard. It's very spacious, has a wet bar, separate nav station, a dinette with L-shaped seating for five, and a day bunk aft of the dinette.
