Rugged, Reliable, and Easy to Sail. The Caliber 47 LRC is a well-thought-out cutter-rigged, world cruiser. ECLIPSE (the boat was launched during a Lunar Eclipse), was showcased in the 2005 Newport, Annapolis, and Miami boat shows and reviewed by Cruising World.
"This is the cleanest and most comfortable sleeping boat I have ever crewed on." R.Draper, Chesapeake Bay, MD
"To be honest with you, I am pleasantly surprised at how well she handles. I didn't expect this speed, or the ability to sail as close to the wind as we have, nor did I think the boat would tack as quickly as it did." M.O'Connor, ex-champion of the NY Yacht Club Racing Fleet, Newport, RI.
"This is a really well-built boat. Just look at how thick these floors are and how they are integrated into the hull of the boat. She's really solid." J.Smith, mechanic, Plainfield, NH.
COMFORTABLE and COZY: Below deck the 10-foot-long galley offers great food prep and storage space along with pass-through windows into the cockpit so meals and drinks can be served and cleared away quickly and safely without performing balancing acts! There are 21 opening portals and hatches (a lot more than most boats offer) that provide great cross ventilation and natural lighting; added fans, 2-zoned air conditioning, Webasto furnace, and a 6kw generator, make the living space comfortable when it's too hot, too cold, or when there is no wind at all! Hate sleeping in a "V" Berth? The aft stateroom offers an island berth, the front stateroom offers a pullman berth, so everyone sleeps comfortably! Additionally, each berth houses its own head. Privacy is paramount and enjoyed by crew and visitors. Topside, the cockpit is fully enclosed. Sit and enjoy the view not only in nice weather but any weather, night or day! Swim off the stern of the boat where getting on and off is made easy by the platform and ladder. After swimming, shower off with the hot and cold fresh-water shower located on the stern's platform. Like fishing? Got fish? Again, use the stern shower to clean and rinse them off, keeping the smell and fish scale mess outside! Comfortable and cozy.
EASY TO SAIL:The center cockpit offers 360 degress of great visibility for not only men but women as well! (No more standing on the seat to see over the bow of the boat!) Quick accessibility to the wide fore and aft decks with aggressive nonskid decking and heavy-duty, extra-high stainless steal grab rails (both outboard and inboard) provide an efficient and safer work platform while underway. Main, Genoa, and Jib sheets along with furling lines all led aft to the cockpit for single-handed sailing. All winches are two-speed and self-tailing, and are powered by a single 18-volt hand-held Cinch Winch 1600. (Winches are pre-wired for electric winches) The inboard Genoa track offers adjustable cars while sailing and under load. Two chart plotters in the cockpit (Raymarine & Garmin Systems) serve as backup to one another in case of lightening strikes or electrical failure, cross-checking charts, and a second set of eyes watching the charts while someone else pilots the boat! Sailing made easy!

The salon offers a 6’6” headroom with a full-length settee port side and custom-built captain’s chairs to starboard. Generous, and easily accessible storage can be found under and behind each. The bulkhead-mounted dining table and wine rack, conveniently stows out of the way creating a spacious and uncluttered living area. A custom-built, cushioned, teak captain’s chest is also stowed against the bulkhead which serves as additional storage, seating, footrest, and hors d’oeuvre serving table. The port settee extends to make a double berth and a single berth is created over the captain’s chairs.
The salon and galley combined offer 10 large opening ports, three variable speed fans, one overhead hatch and two deck cowls. All of which help to create a bright and airy atmosphere that is enjoyable to relax, work, or play in. Additionally, the extraordinarily long and narrow galley with its plentiful storage, convenient layout, and direct accessibility to the cockpit, help make food prep and serving more enjoyable and safer while either on the hook or under way. The Frigoboat, keel cooled, top-loading freezer and refrigerator (also front loading), provide generous cold storage for off-shore cruising. A microwave oven and Force 10, three-burner LPG stove and oven, complete the needs of any cook. Other galley enhancements include a 10-foot Corian counter surface with integral sea rails; slide-out utensil and silverware drawers; tilt-out, full-size trash bin; double sink with pull-out faucet, Seagull water filter, and manual fresh water foot pump.
Adjacent to the companionway is the forward facing nav station. It features cabinet space sufficient to mount a variety of electronic equipment. The spacious desktop provides room enough for route planning and reviewing large charts (which are conveniently stored below the chart table). The area also serves to access the electrical panels for shipboard AC and DC equipment.
The Caliber 47 LRC offers two staterooms with private heads. Both berths are equally comfortable. The stateroom aft includes a queen size island berth with storage and hanging lockers throughout the room. One of its best features is that it can be accessed from both port and starboard sides. The walk-through traffic pattern opens the boat up for better ventilation and gives it a more palatial feel. The forward stateroom features an easily accessible offset double berth. Which also houses an abundance of storage lockers above, below, and across from the berth. Both heads feature vanities with Corian counter tops and separate shower stalls (aft shower serves as a wet locker and walk-in, hanging closet). The aft head also offers an upgraded electric Sea Era Head with macerator and standard size household bowl. The forward head houses a manual flush toilet system.
Want exceptional ventilation and natural lighting? There are four Ocean Air opening hatches equipped with screens & shades and 21 opening portals (with screens if needed), plus nine additional fans, all of which provide fabulous ventilation and air exchange enhanced by natural light. Want comfort? a two-zoned Marine Air Conditioning unit with reverse cycle heat pump can help offset adverse weather conditions. Going North? The boat also offers a diesel-fired, hot-air Espar Heater HL-60 furnace which can handle the coldest of days leaving you warm and toasty without bundling up in foul weather gear!
Topside, the fully enclosed (NEW 2012) center cockpit adds an additional room of comfort and protection from the elements. With all sail control lines leading aft to the cockpit, the challenges of short-handed sailing are greatly reduced. If crew members have to leave the cockpit, the extended stainless grab rails in the bow and stern pulpits, along with the stainless mast pulpit, assist in giving stronger handholds while crossing rough seas or handling rigging.
