Etap Etap 32s

Introducing, "Trick or Treat", hull #79 of the innovative and unsinkable ETAP 32 S.  Beautifully crafted in Belgium with the same team approach used by Saab and Volvo, ETAP builds their yachts to meet the strict certification requirements of Bureau Veritas and the French Merchant Marine, CE Category A rating for all oceans. The ETAP is also certified to recover from a 90 degree knockdown even when  flooded.   A  flooded Etap can maneuver under sail or power to safety. 

Etaps are built with a double hull (hand laid fiberglass).  High buoyancy, close cell foam is then precisely injected between the hulls and decks to assure correct buoyancy, stability and positive floatation without compromising the living spaces.  Another benefit from this construction method is the absense of interior "sweating" so common with single skin hulls.

The innovative shoal draft keel (4'3") is of a tandem design similar to a Collins design.  It is composed of two vertical foils joined by a bulb at the base.which gives excellent lift.

The helm is unique and practical. At first glance it appears to be a tiller but upon closer inspection you will notice it is a vertical post attached by Delrin rack-and-pinion gears to the rudderstock. So, the beautifully balanced steering is the same as if the post were a wheel. This responsive system is not only a  pleasure to operate but it also creates a spacious cockpit area.

Another ETAP innovation is the mainsheet traveler system. When the boat is at rest the end-boom, 5 to 1 mainsheet is easily detached from the traveler and fixed to the rail.  The quick release traveler can be then be removed from the cockpit settee.  The cockpit is now fully open for entertaining and uncluttered from sail handling controls.

The ETAP 32 S is a pleasure to sail, providing performance and stability in all weather conditions.
