From the design studio of Robert Perry, Totem, a Passport 47, continues the long tradition of blue water capability that began with the stalwart, well-found Passport 40. Ease of handling, quality construction, moderate displacement and luxurious accommodations result in a yacht that is fast, comfortable and capable. Totem's amenities are apparent the moment you step aboard: a large seagoing galley with secure places to wedge yourself in when the going gets rough; a roomy saloon with leeclothes available for safe and comfortable passages and a cocktail table ready to host others in the anchorage once you arrive; plenty of ventilation from seven opening hatches and 18 opening ports; the load carrying capability required for a voyage to the South Seas or a trip up the Inside Passage to Alaska; and a warm and inviting teak interior that speaks to the days of classic yachting. Easily handled by a couple, her two stateroom layout will also accommodate a cruising family. With her Fischer Panda genset, excellent electronics, in-boom furling and extensive cruising systems, Totem is a well equipped cruiser and ready to go.

We viewed Totem 3 years ago before here current owner purchased her. From her accommodating yet seakindly layout to the easily managed sail plan, We were most impressed by the choices her owner had made. Excellent component selection and proper installation were most evident. Yanmar engine, Liesurefurl-in boom furling, Fisher Panda genset, Monitor windvane, Icom radios, Lighthouse anchor windlass, Forespar rig-the best available components for blue water cruising. We have sailed and sold a number of “semi-custom” boats. Each is a reflection of the owner’s experience and attitude. Totem's (previously named Kira) owner had the benefit of owning and cruising half a dozen sailboats including a Passport 40. As Passport’s West Coast representative he was well aware of what the yard could do. Working with designer Robert H. Perry, the interior layout and rig were optimized for comfort and blue water performance.Totem was delivered to Seattle and meticulously outfitted by her owner in Portland during a six month period. The rig and deck hardware were installed. The entertainment and electronics were painstakingly installed, tested, and tweaked. After watching a brief segment of “Mission Impossible” in the salon, I can attest that the sound system is better than most movie theaters. Canvas and accessories were procured among the hundred other items necessary to complete a yacht of this magnitude. Totem has cruised down the West Coast of the US and has spent the last three years cruising the Sea of Cortez and summering in La Paz.  During this time she has been maticulously maintained and looked after. Anyone looking for an elegant and safe aft-cockpit blue water cruising sailboat would be well served to consider Totem.
