"Love Song" is a custom offshore sloop designed by Bryant Hollins for Brandlmayr Yachts - Spencer & Seabird. She was built in 2002 to be strong and fast with 9 knots capability under full sail. Constructed to exacting standards and made of steel with precision curves and welds, this vessel has earned many racing honors.
She was meticulously crafted in a professional yard with a fully foam insulated hull and powered by a very economical 27hp Yanmar diesel with low hours. The very well constructed cherry stained mahogany spacious cabin offers 6'4" headroom, and a simple and efficient layout including a queen size berth in the aft. The galley has a highly efficient alcohol stove/ oven, hot water, large refrigerator/ freezer and plenty of storage.
Her hull is 3/16” plate. Deck and cabin top are 1/8” plate. Sprayed in Foam insulation on sides is 5” thick. Foam in cabin top is 2” thick and her total weight is approximately 24,000 lbs.
To convert to wheel steering would cost approximately $5000 but the tiller is an advantage for offshore sailing as its easier to hook up to a wind vane auto pilot.
Sails are NORTH. (Heavier for offshore sailing. Main, jib, 135% genoa, staysail, 1250 sq. ft. Spinnaker)
Sherri Kreklau a Certified Sail Canada Instructor with years of experience in all types of sailboat designs. Sherri was hired to teach the current owner how to sail so she has been on board "Love Song" many times. She commented:
“I was struck by the unique feel of Love Song when underway. Due to the hull / chine design and the prop shaft position in relation to the tiller, I felt a connection to the flow of the water and wind. The way the chine’s edge grabs and cuts the water allows for a rapid response both under power and sail. She is one of the few vessels that are a dream to sail. She handles like a thoroughbred in how she flows. If you are a racer and have a sense of feel, the tiller is so responsive. She likes to sail close to wind “
“Love Song is designed for safe, carefree, comfortable off shore adventure. She is built like a tank but responds like a torpedo. Yet she is so roomy and well insulated you could easily live aboard her in any climate.”
Her current owner purchased her in 2013 but his wife didn't like to sail and they have since moved to the Dominican Republic and is motivated to sell her and will consider all offers. She has been recently hauled out, bottom painted, and new awlgrip applied on her top sides.
Design and construction of this vessel was almost $260,000.
-LOVE SONG was designed and built in Hollins Industries International Inc. Shop in 100 Mile house and launched May 14, 2002.
-Sprayed in closed cell foam (5” thick in the sides, 2” thick in the cabin top).
-A small ceramic heater makes it quite comfortable in freezing weather.
-Feathering 3-bladed prop - MARTEC 17” feathering stainless steel. Anodes are S1Z
- Stuffing box is a NORSCOT oil filled propeller shaft seal. (No friction, no leaks)
- Wood work is Cherry stained mahogany
- Mast and rigging from Pro-Tech in North Vancouver (One size heavier stays for offshore)
- Hull is 39’-0” but bow pulpit overhangs another foot or so.
- YANMAR 27 HP burns .8 U.S. gallons per hour at full throttle (50 U.S. gallon tank.)
- Ballast is lead poured into keel. (No through bolts).

Foam insulation makes boat very quiet inside.
The vessel was raced successfully. Olympic sailor, Dave Miller (North Sails) commented on how well balanced the boat is.
The Hollins 39’ is Hollins design with help from Dave Miller of North Sails on the sail plan dimensions. They are all 2002, Main is 8.8 oz. Spinnaker is ¾ oz. Not used much in the last 5 years, if at all.
Roller furling is FURLEX. Batteries are 4 only 6 volt Gel filled Golf Cart batteries hooked up as tandem 12 volt system.
Winches are Anderson 2 speed, self tailing. Stainless steel. 2-AN500240 #40 self tailing, 2-AN500040 #40 2 speed, 2-AN500046 #46 2 speed, 2 AN500252 #52 self tailing.
Rigging is swaged, 1 size over normal for offshore.
