Patriot's engine room is spacious and the access of critical components comes with ease. The large CAT engine, optimally resides in the center of the room. The house batteries and water heater are located on the port wall of the room, opposite of the engine battery and holding tanks, on the starboard side. The fuel tanks are located aft of the engine, on both sides of the entrance way.

The owner and guest cabins are separated by a common area, appropriately called a saloon, which measures 14-feet, 8-inches by 10-feet, 4-inches and combines the activities hub, galley, helm station, entertainment center, and main living area. Forward is the fully equipped L galley to port and the complete helm station with seat to starboard. The companion-way forward leads to the guest stateroom with V-berths and a roomy head with its own shower. The galley is complete with a range - oven, fridge, microwave, sink, and excellent storage in several cabinets. The helm area features a full width overhead electronics locker and a flip up storage compartment for manuals and navigational tools. Just aft of the starboard door is the dry-bar cabinet. Looking aft in the saloon, you can see the long L-shaped settee with a teak yacht table. The aft stateroom displays beautiful golden Burmese teak and holly joinery. Built-in Burmese teak furniture, cabinets and moldings are blended with modern fabrics, atop of a teak and holly deck, creating her Early Modern Danish style. This stateroom features a center island queen layout, exceptional storage in hanging lockers, bureaus, and below berth drawers.The head and shower are also separate compartments port and starboard.
The galley is arranged on the port side forward. With the additional counter space and top load freezer the optional L galley brings; plentiful drawers, storage is ample and easily reached. Forward and to starboard is the lower helm adjacent to the companionway and there is a small bar between the dinette and helm.

- 11/15 -Removed Cetol from exterior teak cap rail and trim pieces and replaced with 8 coats of Awlwood Clear Gloss. It is noted that the teak decks have never been sanded or bleached. Cleaning done with boat soap and a soft brush. All window frames touched up with Awlgrip paint
- 11/15 -Removed all anti-fouling paint from bottom followed by sanding for better adhesion, then painted with ablative anti-fouling paint. Same done to running gear
- 11/15 -Propeller removed, tuned and reinstalled

This Grand Banks 42 Classic is number 1504 out of 1555 constructed. This adds up to 50 years of success. Ken Smith's design has been amended and updated with the practical input gained by each owner. Thus experiences gained since the laying of the first GB 42 keel in 1966 are reflected in each GB 42 in commission today. Her practical layout, sturdy fiberglass construction, deep water design, and long range capability all add up to the complete cruising boat. The Grand Banks semi-displacement hull design, with a fine entry forward, hard chines aft, optional trim tabs, and a full keel has proven itself on choppy waters around the world. Fisherman and sailers alike know that single diesel power delivers the best economy. The flybridge is easily accessible from the main deck. It is a multipurpose upper deck providing the flybridge helm station with fwd seating, storage lockers, and a significant lounge area aft. GB has supplied the optional fixed deck furniture. The entire flybridge is covered overhead by a bimini top with an aft extension. The end result is a great deck with excellent 360-degree visibility as well as a lounge/dining setup with room to mount a large, gas powered grill. The bridge console has full instrumentation with handy storage for large items below. The steering wheel is handcrafted teak. The standard electric windlass, mounted on a dual roller anchor platform is protected by a stainless rail to make the anchoring process as simple as possible. The location of the shore power inlets, at the bow and stern, makes power connections possible without boat position being a problem. The foredeck storage locker is great for lines and the large lazarette aft provides convenient storage for a variety of cruising gear. The engine room in this GB 42 Classic is special. With working space outboard of the engine there is plenty of installation space for essential gear. The standard 9-KW generator comes with a sound shield, and underwater exhaust, for quiet operation. The exterior of the hull and deckhouse on this GB 42 is solid fiberglass with smooth gel coat. The bulwarks surrounding the wide main deck are capped with a sturdy stainless safety rail providing safe movement from bow to stern for those on board. In production since the 60s, her hull was modified in the early 90s giving the proven Grand Banks semi-displacement hull a longer waterline and an increased beam. Patriot burns 6 gallons of diesel fuel per hour at 1800 rpm. Ideal for a family with children and guests, she cruises economically at 10 mph.
